Taekwang Industry has launched ACECOOL-BIO, South Korea’s first plant-based nylon yarn, offering enhanced breathability, reduced dyeing time, and over 50% lower carbon emissions. Targeted at activewear and summer apparel, it supports ESG initiatives and showcases the company’s commitment to sustainability. Additional eco-friendly fibres are planned for release later this year.

Taekwang Industry, a vertically integrated textile and petrochemical company based in South Korea and part of the larger Taekwang Group, has announced the official launch of its latest sustainable innovation—ACECOOL-BIO, a plant-based nylon yarn. This groundbreaking product represents a major advancement in environmentally conscious textile manufacturing and marks a key milestone as the first domestically produced nylon yarn in South Korea derived from plant-based sources.

The company developed ACECOOL-BIO to provide a more sustainable alternative to conventional chemical fibres. By utilizing renewable plant materials in its production process, the yarn is designed to address the environmental and functional limitations of traditional synthetic textiles. One of the core features of this new material is its superior moisture absorption and breathability, making it especially suitable for applications where comfort and ventilation are essential—such as in activewear, innerwear, and summer workwear.

Taekwang Industry also noted a growing consumer interest in cool-touch fabrics, and ACECOOL-BIO has been specifically engineered to meet that demand. The yarn provides a natural cooling sensation on contact with the skin, catering to users who seek comfort during hot and humid conditions. Its performance capabilities are complemented by environmental advantages—carbon emissions generated during its production are reduced by over 50% compared to those of conventional cool-touch nylon fibres, making it a more climate-friendly choice.

In addition to environmental performance, the yarn also offers improved dyeing efficiency. According to the company, ACECOOL-BIO shortens the dyeing process while delivering more vivid and vibrant colors than traditional nylon yarns. This not only enhances the final product’s aesthetic appeal but also contributes to water and energy conservation during textile processing—a win-win for both manufacturers and the environment.

A spokesperson for Taekwang Industry emphasized that the release of ACECOOL-BIO aligns with the company’s broader strategy to promote Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management within the fashion and textile industries. The firm envisions this plant-based yarn as a key player in expanding the high-performance yarn market while simultaneously strengthening its identity as a premium brand with a focus on sustainability.

Looking ahead, the company plans to launch additional eco-friendly fibre brands in the second half of the year, continuing its investment in sustainable innovation. Through these initiatives, Taekwang Industry aims to contribute meaningfully to global climate goals and inspire more widespread adoption of responsible practices across the textile value chain.

With ACECOOL-BIO, Taekwang is not only offering a high-performance, sustainable material but is also positioning itself at the forefront of the shift towards eco-conscious textile production, reinforcing its role as a leader in both innovation and corporate responsibility.
