Trelleborg Expands Rubber and Aerospace Sealing Business

Trelleborg acquires German rubber profile maker M+R and U.S. aerospace sealing specialist Cascade to strengthen construction and aerospace operations.

Trelleborg AB has announced two acquisitions designed to strengthen its presence in the construction, renewable energy, and aerospace markets. The Swedish industrial group has signed agreements to acquire M+R Dichtungstechnik GmbH in Germany and Cascade Gasket and Manufacturing Company Inc. in the United States through two different business areas.

M+R Dichtungstechnik, based in Seligenstadt, Germany, will become part of Trelleborg Industrial Solutions. The transaction has already been signed and completed. M+R specializes in customized extruded rubber profiles and molded components, serving construction, renewable energy, and other industrial applications.

Its product range includes architectural facade seals and customized rubber profiles used in solar and wind power projects. The company focuses on developing application-specific solutions tailored to customer requirements. M+R generates most of its revenue across Central Europe and recorded sales of slightly more than SEK 85 million in 2025.

The acquisition will strengthen Trelleborg's position in Germany's facade profile market, which is strategically important given the country's large construction sector. Trelleborg also expects the deal to create synergies through additional revenue opportunities and cost efficiencies.

The second transaction involves Cascade Gasket and Manufacturing Company, an aerospace sealing and fastening specialist located in Auburn, Washington. The company will join Trelleborg Sealing Solutions. Unlike the M+R transaction, the Cascade acquisition is still subject to customary closing conditions.

Cascade has operated for around 80 years and supplies original equipment manufacturers, including major aircraft manufacturers, while also maintaining a strong aftermarket business. Its products include critical sealing and fastening components that support the safe assembly and reliable operation of aircraft systems.

The company develops and manufactures its products at a facility equipped with 3D printing capabilities and advanced material-testing equipment. Cascade generated sales of slightly more than SEK 300 million in 2025, with North America representing its primary market.

The acquisition will broaden Trelleborg's aerospace portfolio, particularly in silicone components and installation solutions. Trelleborg already operates two aerospace manufacturing facilities in the Seattle area, allowing Cascade's capabilities to complement its existing operations and customer network.

The move comes as the global aerospace industry enters a prolonged growth cycle. Trelleborg has been actively expanding its aerospace business through acquisitions and investments. Its new production facility in Casablanca, Morocco, which started operations in June 2026, produces polymer seals for aircraft.

Together, the acquisitions reinforce Trelleborg's strategy of expanding specialized polymer solutions in markets offering long-term growth opportunities.

Product and Chemical Commodity Price Impact

The acquisitions are unlikely to cause an immediate major change in prices of core chemical commodities tracked by ChemAnalyst because Trelleborg is expanding downstream manufacturing rather than adding significant commodity-scale capacity. Demand for silicone rubber, synthetic rubber, specialty elastomers, and polymer compounds could gradually increase as Cascade and M+R operations expand, providing modest support to prices. Aerospace growth could particularly strengthen demand for high-performance silicone and specialty sealing materials. However, the impact should remain limited in the near term because the acquired businesses are relatively specialized and their production volumes are small compared with global chemical markets. Overall, the move is mildly bullish for specialty elastomer demand and prices.
