The initiative, which represents an investment of approximately US$20 million, will focus on polycarbonate (PC) recycling and will be implemented in phases. The first phase of the project is expected to deliver an annual production capacity of 5,000 tons, positioning it as a key contributor to the region’s circular economy.

The signing ceremony was attended by prominent leaders and executives, including Han Wei, Secretary of the Zhangjiagang Municipal Party Committee; Frank Bozich, Chief Executive Officer of Trinseo; Han Hendriks, Global Senior Vice President of Trinseo; and Arthas Yang, Global Senior Vice President and President of Trinseo Asia Pacific. Their presence underscored the importance of the project to both the company and the local government.

During the event, Han Wei emphasized that the project reflects cutting-edge technological innovation and carries strong market prospects. He noted that it aligns closely with Zhangjiagang’s industrial development strategy, particularly its focus on sustainable and high-value industries. Han expressed confidence in the project’s potential to boost local economic growth, attract further innovation, and strengthen the city’s industrial competitiveness. According to him, the Zhangjiagang government is committed to maintaining a business environment that is efficient, law-driven, and globally competitive, thereby ensuring strong support for the project’s success.

Frank Bozich, Trinseo’s CEO, extended his appreciation to the Zhangjiagang Municipal Party Committee, the local government, and the Free Trade Zone Administration for their consistent support of the company’s activities. He highlighted how this collaboration has enabled Trinseo to establish rapid and stable growth in the region. Bozich added that the upcoming recycling project not only strengthens Trinseo’s presence in Zhangjiagang but also enhances its contribution to the local community by advancing sustainable manufacturing practices.

Through this investment, Trinseo aims to reinforce its long-term commitment to circular solutions and resource efficiency. The company believes the project will serve as a foundation for broader efforts in recycling innovation and sustainable material development. By integrating advanced recycling technologies into its operations, Trinseo expects to provide environmentally responsible solutions for customers while simultaneously supporting Zhangjiagang’s vision of high-quality industrial development.

Overall, the partnership highlights a shared vision between the company and the city: creating a greener, more competitive industrial ecosystem that benefits both local and global stakeholders.
