UBE certified two sustainable materials, expanding its environmental product lineup and reinforcing commitment to innovation, biomass solutions, and ISCC-certified manufacturing.
UBE Corporation has announced the certification of two products under its environmental product branding initiative, marking the fourth offering to be recognized within this sustainability-focused framework. The announcement reflects the company’s continued commitment to strengthening its environmentally responsible product portfolio while supporting global efforts to reduce environmental impact across the chemical and materials value chain.
The newly certified products include one material currently in the development phase and another that is already being manufactured and sold commercially. Together, these certifications highlight both the forward-looking innovation pipeline and the practical, market-ready solutions being advanced within the UBE Group. By recognizing products at different stages of maturity, the company underscores its long-term strategy of embedding sustainability from early-stage research through to large-scale commercial production.
One of the certified items is a biomass composite nylon that remains under development by UBE. This material is designed to incorporate biomass-derived components, reducing reliance on fossil-based raw materials while maintaining the high performance standards required for industrial and consumer applications. The development of this composite nylon aligns with broader industry trends toward renewable feedstocks and circular material design, and its certification signals that the product has demonstrated particularly strong potential for positive environmental impact, even prior to full commercialization.
The second certified item consists of polybutadiene products that are already being produced and sold by THAI SYNTHETIC RUBBERS COMPANY LIMITED, a key member of the UBE Group. These polybutadiene materials are manufactured using an ISCC mass balance approach and have achieved ISCC PLUS certification. This approach allows sustainably sourced raw materials to be allocated through the production system in a transparent and traceable manner, supporting reduced carbon footprints while ensuring product quality and supply stability.
The environmental product brand applied to these materials is reserved for offerings within the UBE Group lineup—whether still under development or already commercialized—that demonstrate particularly outstanding environmental benefits. Products selected under this brand are recognized not only for lower environmental impact but also for their potential to deliver added value to customers seeking sustainable alternatives without compromising performance, safety, or reliability.
Through the expansion of this branded portfolio, UBE aims to accelerate the adoption of environmentally advanced materials across multiple industries, including automotive, industrial manufacturing, and consumer goods. The company views this initiative as a practical mechanism to translate its sustainability strategy into tangible products that can be readily integrated into customers’ supply chains. By doing so, UBE seeks to contribute meaningfully to the resolution of global environmental challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and emissions reduction.
This latest certification reinforces UBE’s broader environmental vision, which emphasizes innovation, responsible manufacturing, and collaboration across the value chain. By promoting products with verified environmental advantages, the company not only enhances the competitiveness of its own offerings but also encourages wider market shifts toward more sustainable materials. As adoption grows, UBE expects these products to play an increasingly important role in supporting the transition to a lower-carbon, more resource-efficient global economy.
