US 1,3-Propanediol Prices Rise 11.11% on Robust Export Demand and Tight Spot Supply

Nicholas Sparks 20-Jul-2026
The US 1,3-Propanediol market recorded a strong performance in June 2026, with 1,3-Propanediol prices increasing by 11.11% as robust export demand, healthy downstream consumption, and rising feedstock costs tightened spot availability. The bullish market was supported by strong overseas inquiries, while domestic demand remained resilient across several key industries. Limited spot availability, smooth export logistics, and firm producer pricing enabled the 1,3-Propanediol market to maintain upward momentum throughout the month.

A major driver behind the increase in 1,3-Propanediol prices was the continued strength in export demand. Overseas converters significantly increased procurement during June, shifting additional product volumes toward export loading through Savannah. Efficient logistics, stable rail transportation, and uncongested port operations further supported export shipments and reinforced the firm market environment for 1,3-Propanediol.

Feedstock dynamics also contributed to higher 1,3-Propanediol prices during the month. Rising corn-derived dextrose costs increased production expenses, prompting manufacturers to pass higher input costs through to customers under cost-plus pricing mechanisms. Meanwhile, relatively low natural gas-based utility costs preserved competitive production economics, allowing producers to maintain healthy operating margins while continuing to meet growing export requirements.

On the supply side, 1,3-Propanediol production facility in Loudon, Tennessee, operated near full design capacity throughout June without major maintenance disruptions. Although production remained stable, the strong export program absorbed much of the available output, reducing spot availability within the domestic market. This balanced supply situation allowed producers to maintain firm pricing despite uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

Domestic demand for 1,3-Propanediol remained healthy across multiple downstream industries. Consumption from cosmetics and personal care applications continued to expand as manufacturers responded to increasing consumer demand for bio-based and sustainable ingredients. Strong preference for environmentally friendly formulations supported consistent procurement of 1,3-Propanediol, providing an important source of domestic demand alongside export growth.

Demand also remained robust across plastics, coatings, adhesives, and polyurethane applications. The automotive sector provided additional support during June as light vehicle sales increased by 5.8% month-on-month, driven by growing consumer adoption of battery electric and hybrid vehicles. Higher automotive production boosted demand for coatings, adhesives, and engineering materials utilizing 1,3-Propanediol, while downstream buyers increased procurement to support improving manufacturing activity.

According to ChemAnalyst data, the 1,3-Propanediol market is expected to remain supported by firm export demand, resilient downstream consumption, and elevated feedstock costs. While seasonal logistics disruptions and freight volatility may influence short-term trading conditions, sustained demand from cosmetics, personal care, automotive, plastics, coatings, and adhesives industries is expected to provide continued support for 1,3-Propanediol prices in the coming months.
