The U.S. n-Propyl Acetate market remained subdued through August 2026, with prices showing limited movement as adequate availability and disciplined downstream procurement kept market momentum muted. The n-Propyl Acetate market was supported by routine spot requirements, but buyers largely focused on immediate needs rather than aggressive inventory building. Supply remained sufficient across the market, while stable import flows and comfortable inventories limited the possibility of significant price gains. By late August, participants maintained a cautious stance as the n-Propyl Acetate market lacked a strong demand catalyst to support a sustained recovery.
Downstream industries provided steady support for n-Propyl Acetate consumption, although demand remained moderate rather than robust. Solvent requirements from coatings and adhesives, routine inventory replenishment and spot purchasing for immediate production needs supported baseline activity. The U.S. construction sector also reflected a mixed demand environment. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, total construction spending declined 0.5% month on month in July and was down 3.8% year on year. Private construction spending decreased 0.5% month on month, while residential construction declined 1.3%. However, non-residential construction increased 0.4%, providing some offset to weakness in residential activity. This mixed construction performance pointed to restrained industrial and coatings-related demand, consistent with cautious purchasing behaviour in the n-Propyl Acetate market.
Production and feedstock dynamics also influenced n-Propyl Acetate pricing during August. Acetic Acid prices remained broadly stable, providing limited cost-driven support to producers. Meanwhile, softer propylene values helped contain production costs and allowed suppliers to maintain competitive offers. n-Propanol costs were also broadly stable and provided little additional upward impetus. Although LyondellBasell’s force majeure created some uncertainty around supply, imports and available regional inventories helped maintain sufficient availability for routine requirements. Consequently, the n-Propyl Acetate market experienced limited supply pressure despite the disruption.
Weekly assessment data showed that n-Propyl Acetate prices remained within a relatively narrow range during August before stabilizing toward the end of the month. A mid-month decline of around 1.23% highlighted the market’s sensitivity to subdued cost conditions, while late-August assessments recorded no net week-on-week change. This performance indicated that the n-Propyl Acetate market lacked sufficient downstream momentum to establish a meaningful recovery, resulting in largely sideways trading toward the end of August.
Looking ahead, the U.S. n-Propyl Acetate market is anticipated to turn bearish in September, with prices expected to face downward pressure. Adequate supply subdued downstream purchasing and limited demand momentum are likely to weigh on the n-Propyl Acetate market. Stable Acetic Acid costs may provide limited support, while softer propylene values could continue to constrain production costs and encourage competitive offers. Import availability and disciplined procurement are also expected to keep the n-Propyl Acetate market under pressure. Overall, September is expected to remain challenging, with the n-Propyl Acetate market likely to experience a bearish trend unless downstream demand strengthens significantly.
