US STPP Prices Climb 6.5% in Nov 2025 Amid Tight Imports and Cautious Demand

The US sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) market saw an increase of 6.5% from October to November 2025, mainly due to tighter supply conditions and cautious buying behaviour by customers. However, while the detergent, water treatment, and food processing industries have remained stable during recent months, customers have been avoiding excessive purchases because of past volatility. The detergent market is dominated by Procter & Gamble with the primary focus on manufacturer purchase volume, although P&G's fiscal 2025 results would suggest the potential for caution on the part of the consumer, exhibiting only approximately two percent organic growth for the year along with a 4 percent increase in the amount of EPS (earnings per share) reported for the first quarter of fiscal 2025. Consequently, this has resulted in a reduced pull on raw materials this month. The usage of STPP by companies in Canada, Belgium, and, more recently, China has placed the US market at a greater risk associated with the use of these products and further contributed to the uncertainty in pricing associated with import tariffs.
