Volt secures $0.5M from RiverFort to advance U.S. and Tanzanian graphite projects, aligning with global non-Chinese supply chain shifts.
Volt Resources Limited, a prominent graphite producer and developer of advanced materials, has announced a successful drawdown of $0.5 million from its $1 million funding facility with RiverFort Global Opportunities PCC Ltd. This capital infusion will be directed towards progressing several strategic priorities, including advancing its graphite production capabilities, accelerating key project developments, and covering essential operational expenses.
A core component of the allocated funds will support the continued development of high-purity graphite products and the pilot plant trials for Volt’s proposed Alabama Graphite Refinery in the United States. The Company had earlier revealed encouraging findings from a Scoping Study, which affirmed the strong economic viability of its proprietary graphite purification process. Currently in the test-work phase, Volt is planning the next stage of pilot plant trials. It is actively engaging with potential offtake partners, pursuing governmental support, and evaluating funding opportunities to expedite the Alabama project's development.
Another important funding priority is the advancement of the Stage 1 Bunyu Graphite Project in Tanzania. Volt is in the final stages of negotiations with strategic partners, aiming to optimize capital and operational costs. The goal is to position the Bunyu project for economic development despite the current downturn in global graphite prices. Successful execution of this strategy could allow the project to progress to the development phase under favorable economic conditions.
Additionally, part of the funding will be utilized for general working capital needs, which include maintaining tenement leases and covering corporate expenditures. With half of the $1 million facility already drawn, Volt still retains access to the remaining $0.5 million under the existing agreement.
Volt’s strategic approach is aligned with the broader global push to establish resilient, non-Chinese supply chains for critical minerals. Recent geopolitical developments, particularly in the U.S., underscore this shift. The introduction of a 93.5% anti-dumping duty on Active Anode Materials (AAM) imported from China — bringing the total tariff impact to 160% — has sharply increased the demand for diversified graphite sources, especially for North American and European battery manufacturers.
Volt’s geographically diversified projects — located in the United States, Tanzania, and Ukraine — strategically position the Company to capitalize on these evolving market dynamics. The Alabama Graphite Refinery, in particular, is central to Volt’s downstream processing strategy and is seen as a critical piece in the emerging U.S. battery materials supply chain.
Executive Chairman Mr. Asimwe Kabunga emphasized the importance of Volt’s initiatives amid rising global support for local mineral processing and the urgent shift away from reliance on China. He noted that the combination of government incentives, new tariffs, and critical mineral policies is reshaping the industry landscape, with Volt well-positioned to meet the needs of auto and battery manufacturers seeking secure and compliant supply alternatives.
