Wabag secures Rs 118 crore repeat order from Bahrain government for five-year O&M of 40 MLD Madinat Salman STP.
Water technology company VA Tech Wabag has announced that it has received a significant repeat order valued at approximately 5.12 million Bahraini dinars (around Rs 118 crore) from the Government of Bahrain. The order relates to the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the 40 MLD Madinat Salman Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and the Long Sea Outfall, covering a contractual period of five years.
The contract was awarded by the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs, and Urban Planning of Bahrain, reinforcing the long-term association between Wabag and the Gulf nation. This development highlights the trust placed in Wabag’s expertise in water technology and wastewater management solutions.
According to Srinivasan K, General Manager – MENA RHQ at Wabag, the repeat order is an important milestone for the company. He noted that the project not only strengthens Wabag’s O&M order book but also secures a steady stream of annuity income. This ensures enhanced cash flows and predictable revenues, which are vital for the company’s financial stability and long-term growth. Srinivasan emphasized that the repeat order validates Wabag’s proven track record of delivering reliable performance and high-quality services in Bahrain and the broader Middle East region.
Wabag’s association with the Madinat Salman STP dates back nearly a decade. The company was first entrusted with the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) responsibilities of the 40 MLD sewage treatment facility and its associated Long Sea Outfall in October 2015. Since then, Wabag has successfully completed and maintained the project, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with environmental standards.
The repeat O&M contract not only reflects customer confidence but also strengthens Wabag’s regional footprint in the Middle East, where sustainable water infrastructure continues to be a key focus for governments. With rapid urbanization and growing population demands, efficient sewage treatment and wastewater management are critical to supporting public health, sanitation, and environmental protection.
For Wabag, this order adds further momentum to its strategy of expanding long-term service contracts, especially in international markets. The company’s O&M portfolio provides recurring revenue opportunities, helping balance its EPC-driven project income with predictable cash flows. Such contracts are increasingly important in stabilizing earnings amidst fluctuating project cycles.
The development comes at a time when Wabag is looking to consolidate its position as a global leader in water technology, offering end-to-end solutions in water treatment, wastewater recycling, and desalination. By securing this repeat order from Bahrain, Wabag has reinforced its credibility and strengthened its relationship with a key government partner in the region.
