Beta Naphthol is a crystalline solid, colorless in nature, having a hydroxyl group at its second position. Naphthalene-2-ol is the IUPAC name of Beta Naphthol, which shows a hydroxyl group at its second position. Usually, Beta Naphthol is a solid white crystal, but it turns yellow in exposure to sunlight, having a phenol-like odor. As it is a solid crystal, its melting point is 121-123 degree Celsius, and its boiling point is 285 degree Celsius. Beta Naphthol has a number of applications in Pharma, Food additives, Dye & Pigments, Perfumes, insecticides, fungicides, and in rubbers.
