Air Liquide has signed a long-term gas supply agreement with VisionPower Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (VSMC) to strengthen support for Singapore’s rapidly growing semiconductor sector. As part of this deal, the company will invest approximately 70 million euros to build, own and operate a cutting-edge industrial gas production facility.

Under the agreement, Air Liquide will provide large volumes of ultra-high purity nitrogen, oxygen, argon and other gases to VSMC. The joint venture between Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation and NXP Semiconductors N.V. is set to benefit from Air Liquide’s integrated Carrier Gas solution, which includes advanced technology designed to optimize space and energy use while ensuring high reliability and performance.

The new production facility will be strategically located in Tampines Wafer Fab Park, one of Singapore’s four key wafer fabrication hubs. This initiative not only supports the development of VSMC’s operations but also reinforces Singapore’s standing as a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing. The semiconductor sector currently accounts for more than 20% of the nation’s manufacturing output, making it a vital component of the country’s economy.

With the industry undergoing fast-paced changes and facing increased demand for high-performance, energy-efficient chips, Air Liquide is ramping up its investments in major semiconductor markets. The upcoming facility is scheduled to begin operations in 2026 and marks a key milestone in Air Liquide’s ongoing expansion in Asia.

Ronnie Chalmers, Air Liquide Group vice president supervising Asia Pacific, highlighted the importance of the collaboration: “We are proud to support VSMC with our technologically advanced, sustainable and efficient solutions. This agreement underscores our commitment to innovating and providing value to our customers, and reinforces our position as a technology leader in the electronics industry, fully aligned with our strategic plan ADVANCE.”

Air Liquide’s investment reflects its long-term commitment to the region and aligns with its broader goals of sustainability and innovation. The facility’s design emphasizes energy efficiency and operational excellence, providing tailored solutions that meet the evolving demands of the semiconductor industry.

This partnership further solidifies Air Liquide’s role as a key enabler in advancing technological development while contributing to Singapore’s industrial growth and resilience in the face of global demand shifts.

Air Liquide is a global leader in gases, technologies and services for industry and healthcare. Operating in 60 countries with a workforce of around 66,500, the Group supports more than 4 million customers and patients worldwide. Since its founding in 1902, Air Liquide has focused on essential small molecules—oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen—which are fundamental to life, matter and energy. These molecules define the company’s scientific domain and remain central to its mission and operations.
