ALPLA opens first Philippines plant in Calamba City, boosting APAC presence with advanced packaging technologies and future expansion capacity.

ALPLA has inaugurated its first standalone production facility in the Philippines, marking a significant step in expanding its footprint across the Asia-Pacific region. The global packaging and recycling company has been producing premium plastic bottles and closures at its new site in Calamba City since mid-2025. The facility was officially launched on 19 March 2026 in the presence of around 80 guests, highlighting the company’s commitment to strengthening its regional operations.

The newly established plant spans approximately 4,800 square metres and integrates production, administrative, and logistics functions under one roof. Located in Filinvest Technology Park (FTP) Ciudad de Calamba, the site represents a major milestone in ALPLA’s journey in the Philippines. The company initially entered the market in 2014 as an in-house partner, manufacturing preforms and bottles directly within the filling facilities of a global client. With the commissioning of this base plant, ALPLA has broadened its capabilities, enabling it to cater to a wider customer base across the beverage industry and other sectors.

During the inauguration ceremony, senior executives including Chief Operating Officer Walter Ritzer, APAC Managing Director Ronald Tichelaar, and ALPLA Philippines General Manager Christian Kotschy welcomed distinguished attendees, among them Austria’s ambassador Johann Brieger. Company leadership emphasised that the investment underscores ALPLA’s long-term strategic vision for the Philippines, positioning the company as a reliable partner for both domestic and international clients.

The Calamba facility is equipped with advanced manufacturing technologies, including injection stretch blow moulding (ISBM), extrusion blow moulding (EBM), and compression moulding (CM). These capabilities allow ALPLA to produce a diverse range of high-quality containers, bottles, and closures tailored to the needs of multinational fast-moving consumer goods companies, global beverage brands, and local manufacturers. The plant has been designed with scalability in mind, initially operating with four production lines while retaining the capacity to add up to five more lines as demand grows.

Company executives highlighted the strong growth potential of the Philippine market and the importance of offering integrated system solutions. By combining multiple production technologies within a single site, ALPLA aims to deliver enhanced efficiency, consistent global quality standards, and reliable output from the outset. This approach is expected to help the company differentiate itself in a competitive packaging landscape.

Currently, the Calamba plant employs around 40 people, with plans to expand the workforce alongside future capacity increases. Establishing the facility required overcoming several challenges, including adapting the existing building structure, introducing new technologies, and recruiting skilled personnel. Construction adjustments began in early 2025, and the first production lines were operational by mid-year.

With the plant now fully operational, ALPLA is well-positioned to support growing demand in the region while reinforcing its presence in the dynamic APAC packaging market.
