This project will transform the facility into a cutting-edge plant capable of converting up to 50,000 tons of source-separated organics annually into biomethane.
Anaergia Inc, a global leader in converting organic waste into renewable natural gas (RNG), announced today that its Italian subsidiary, Anaergia S.r.l., has entered into a crucial contract with PreZero International. PreZero International, a leading environmental service provider and general contractor, has selected Anaergia to supply proprietary equipment for the revamp of a materials recycling facility located in Bizkaia, Spain, in the vicinity of Bilbao.
This strategic partnership is set to revolutionize organic waste processing in the region. Upon the completion of the upgrade, the Bizkaia facility will boast the impressive capacity to process up to 50,000 tons of source-separated organic waste each year. This organic material will then be transformed into valuable biomethane through advanced anaerobic digestion.
Anaergia's contribution to this ambitious project includes the provision of several of its patented technologies, notably its CleanREX™ and GritREX™ systems. These innovative systems are designed to efficiently process the organic materials, ensuring optimal conversion into biomethane. The contract is anticipated to generate C$7.6 million in revenue for Anaergia, underscoring the financial significance of this environmental initiative.
Fernando Fernández, Head of Project Execution at PreZero International, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “The solutions provided by Anaergia will help make the Bizkaia facility one of the most efficient and sustainable plants in Spain to convert source-separated organics into biomethane.”
Assaf Onn, CEO of Anaergia, highlighted the milestone nature of this agreement. "Anaergia has provided its systems at many source-separated organics plants in the past," he commented. "However, supplying the first such plant in Spain is a significant milestone as we make the world better with our global footprint and proven expertise."
PreZero International, part of The Schwarz Group (which also owns retail giants Kaufland and Lidl), stands as one of Europe’s largest and most comprehensive environmental service providers. Their unique position within such a large group allows them to foster innovative recycling loops, significantly contributing to the reduction of natural resource consumption. PreZero is dedicated to preserving resources throughout the entire value chain, driven by corporate values that prioritize avoiding waste and promoting a cleaner future through efficient and sustainable solutions.
Anaergia, with over 250 patents, is a pioneering technology company specializing in the renewable natural gas (RNG) sector. The company is committed to tackling a significant source of greenhouse gases by converting organic waste into sustainable solutions such as RNG, fertilizer, and water.
