BASF Industrial Formulators has introduced Pluriol® A 2400 I to the European market, expanding its line of reactive polyethylene glycols (PEGs) for polycarboxylate ether (PCE) applications in the construction industry. This new product, an isoprenol-PEG (iPEG), is designed to enhance the performance of third-generation superplasticizers, improving flow characteristics and durability in concrete formulations.

Pluriol A 2400 I strengthens BASF’s portfolio of advanced raw materials tailored for high-performance concrete admixtures. As the only supplier producing this product in Europe, BASF ensures greater supply reliability and reduces dependence on external raw material sources. The company achieves this through a backward-integrated manufacturing process, which supports consistent product quality and robust supply chains.

“We are proud to be the only European supplier of Pluriol A 2400 I,” said Jordi Tormo, vice president of business management for Industrial Formulators at BASF. “Our backward-integrated production not only enhances delivery reliability and raw material independence but also supports sustainability goals by reducing CO2 emissions through local sourcing.”

Reactive PEGs like Pluriol A 2400 I are critical in the formulation of advanced superplasticizers, which are widely used in the construction industry to improve the workability and strength of concrete. These third-generation superplasticizers are key to achieving high-performance, durable concrete mixtures that meet modern engineering standards.

Beyond its role in concrete admixtures, Pluriol A 2400 I also offers versatility for other industrial applications. It can be used as a raw material for producing dispersants for inorganic pigments, supporting a wide range of formulation needs in construction and related industries.

With the addition of Pluriol A 2400 I, BASF continues to reinforce its commitment to innovation and sustainability in construction chemicals. The company’s emphasis on local production and reduced environmental impact aligns with broader industry goals to improve resource efficiency and lower carbon footprints.

This launch represents a strategic move to strengthen BASF’s presence in the European construction market while providing customers with advanced, reliable, and environmentally conscious formulation solutions.

The Care Chemicals division of BASF provides a wide portfolio of ingredients for personal care, home care, industrial and institutional cleaning, as well as various technical applications.
