BASF Expands Liquid Enzyme Line for Laundry and Cleaning Applications

William Faulkner 11-Jul-2025

BASF expands liquid enzyme portfolio, offering comprehensive, high-performance solutions for sustainable laundry care across diverse stains and fabric needs.

BASF is enhancing its role as a key innovator in the home care and industrial & institutional (I&I) cleaning sector by broadening its portfolio of liquid enzymes. With the latest additions to its enzyme lineup, the company now offers a full spectrum of liquid enzymes, meeting growing industry demands for high-performance, sustainable cleaning solutions.

The expanded portfolio includes new lipase, cellulase, and amylase enzymes, which significantly strengthen BASF’s offerings for laundry and cleaning applications. These enzymes are engineered to deliver optimal results, even under challenging conditions such as low-temperature washes and short cycles. According to Gisela Pinheiro, Senior Vice President of Home Care and I&I Cleaning at BASF, this development enables BASF to co-create efficient, high-performing, and sustainable laundry solutions in collaboration with its partners.

One of the key additions is Lavergy® L Pace, a liquid lipase designed for effective removal of fat and oil stains at low temperatures. Complementing this is Lavergy® C Care, a liquid cellulase that removes fuzz and pills from fabrics, improving the appearance and tactile quality of cotton and cotton blends. It stands out for its exceptional stability, even when used alongside proteases.

The enzyme Lavergy® A Star, a biodegradable amylase, targets starch-based stains and enhances deep cleaning, even in cold wash conditions. This makes it ideal for modern, energy-efficient laundry formulations.

The portfolio expansion builds on earlier innovations like Lavergy® M Ace, a mannanase launched in 2023. This enzyme is specifically effective against challenging stains caused by guar gum and locust bean gum—common ingredients in many processed foods such as sauces, soups, and ice cream. It functions efficiently at low temperatures and short wash durations, offering both performance and sustainability.

Another notable offering is Lavergy® C Bright, a cleaning cellulase that introduces anti-redeposition features into cleaning formulas. It helps preserve the brightness and whiteness of fabrics, even during cold-water laundering. Meanwhile, Lavergy® Pro, BASF’s protease solution introduced in 2016, continues to be a trusted option for tackling protein-based stains like blood, milk, and eggs in liquid detergent formulations.

Together, these innovations mark a significant step forward in BASF’s enzyme development journey. The expanded range not only covers all essential enzyme categories for liquid applications but also aligns with sustainability trends and evolving consumer expectations for performance, fabric care, and energy savings. With this robust enzyme portfolio, BASF empowers its customers to create more effective, efficient, and environmentally conscious cleaning products.

BASF provides an extensive portfolio of products serving multiple industries, such as chemicals, plastics, performance materials, and agricultural solutions. The company is a leading supplier of plastics and rubber materials, offering a broad selection that includes engineering plastics like polyurethanes, styrenic foams, and polyamides.
