Chart Industries, Inc. (NYSE: GTLS), a well-known provider of solutions for the clean energy and industrial gas industries worldwide, has been chosen to supply crucial liquefaction equipment, such as natural gas liquefaction cold boxes and brazed aluminum heat exchangers, for the Cedar liquefied natural gas project.

The Cedar LNG initiative represents a collaborative effort between the Haisla Nation and Pembina Pipeline Corporation (Pembina) to develop this project under the leadership of the Haisla Nation. For the Haisla Nation, this venture is a significant component of its economic and social development strategy, marking a historic moment as it gains direct ownership and involvement in a major industrial endeavor within its territory. At present, the primary center of the Haisla community is Kitamaat Village, positioned at the northern end of the Douglas Channel in British Columbia, Canada. With around 700 members out of the total Haisla membership exceeding 2,023+, Kitamaat Village serves as their central hub.

The order for the liquefaction equipment was secured by Chart from the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm Black & Veatch, a recognized leader in floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) projects and a longstanding partner of Chart. This acquisition adds to a series of notable LNG, FLNG, and small-scale LNG projects that Chart has recently won.

Laszlo von Lazar, President of Black & Veatch's Energy & Process Industries business, remarked, "The Cedar LNG project represents significant strides towards carbon emissions reduction through the establishment of lower-carbon LNG facilities, catering to customers seeking alternatives to more carbon-intensive feedstocks."

Jill Evanko, CEO and President of Chart, expressed, "We take pride in delivering our Nexus of Clean™ solutions to the global community, encompassing clean power, clean water, clean food, and clean industrials. This includes our collaboration with Cedar LNG and our steadfast partner, Black & Veatch." Evanko continued, "Cedar LNG, led by the Haisla Nation, represents not only a significant stride towards decarbonization but also aligns with the Haisla Nation's economic and social development strategy."

In early April 2024, Pembina and its project partners made a significant announcement, revealing that they have issued a notice to proceed to their Cedar LNG export project contractors and have finalized binding offtake agreements for the project.

Chart Industries, Inc. stands as a distinguished global authority in crafting, designing, and producing process technologies and equipment tailored for handling gas and liquid molecules, contributing to the Nexus of Clean™ encompassing clean power, clean water, clean food, and clean industrials, regardless of the molecule type. The company's exceptional range of products and solutions, spanning stationary and rotating equipment, is indispensable across all stages of the liquid gas supply chain.
