Expected to be operational by early 2027, the facility aims to meet the soaring customer demand for advanced lubricant solutions across key sectors like transportation, industrial, energy, and electronics in China and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

Global innovation leader DuPont today announced a major expansion of its specialty lubricants business with a groundbreaking ceremony for a new MOLYKOTE® specialty lubricants manufacturing plant. Located at the Yangtze River International Chemical Industrial Park within the strategic Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone, the investment underscores DuPont's commitment to strengthening its presence and enhancing service capabilities in one of the world's most dynamic industrial markets.

The new facility, slated for operation by early 2027, is a direct response to the robust and growing demand from Chinese customers for high-performance lubricant solutions. The MOLYKOTE® brand, trusted for more than 75 years for solving complex wear and friction challenges, is focused on enabling next-generation performance in critical sectors such as transportation, industrial manufacturing, energy, and electronics.

According to company executives, this strategic expansion is much more than just a capacity increase. The new plant is designed to serve as a vital platform for innovation and collaboration. By establishing a local manufacturing and R&D hub, MOLYKOTE® aims to offer shorter lead times, greater supply chain agility, and stronger, real-time collaboration with local customers.

"Today's groundbreaking is a beginning of a new chapter in our journey to better serve our customers in China, innovate faster, and to be a partner of choice for solving wear and friction challenges across industries," said Eugenio Toccalino, Vice President and General Manager, DuPont™ MOLYKOTE®. He emphasized that the facility will significantly "boost local capabilities for application and new formulation development," empowering customer collaboration and response in real time.

The event saw the attendance of key DuPont leaders, including Toccalino, Marc Turco, Global Integrated Operations Director, DuPont™ MOLYKOTE®, and Yi Zhang, Regional President, DuPont Asia Pacific, alongside customers and local government representatives.

Yi Zhang highlighted the long-term vision behind the investment: "This manufacturing unit will enable us to address current needs and future trends for specialty lubricants. It reflects our confidence in the long-term potential of customers in China and Asia-Pacific region and reinforces our commitment to deliver faster, more resilient, and locally tailored solutions."

This investment is the latest in a series of strategic moves by DuPont in the Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone, demonstrating a clear commitment to leveraging the region's strong industrial base and favorable logistics.
