Ecovyst Inc., a global provider of advanced materials, specialty catalysts, and sulfuric acid services, announced the completed acquisition of sulfuric acid production assets in Waggaman, Louisiana, from Cornerstone Chemical Co.

The transaction was carried out through Eco Services Operations Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Ecovyst. The acquisition strengthens Ecovyst’s presence in the sulfuric acid market and is expected to enhance the company’s operational flexibility, supply reliability and overall capacity.

“We are excited to welcome the Waggaman team to Ecovyst and look forward to working closely with our new colleagues,” said Kurt J. Bitting, Ecovyst’s chief executive officer. “Integrating these assets into our existing network aligns with our long-term growth strategy and reinforces our commitment to supporting customer needs.”

Bitting noted that the additional capacity from the Waggaman site will help Ecovyst better serve anticipated growth in demand for both virgin sulfuric acid and sulfuric acid regeneration services. The acquisition is also expected to create a more resilient supply chain and improve the company’s ability to respond to shifts in market demand.

The Waggaman facility, located near New Orleans, has been a key site for sulfuric acid production. Its integration into Ecovyst’s network is projected to expand the company’s geographic reach and improve logistical efficiencies for customers throughout the Gulf Coast and beyond.

Ecovyst operates with a focus on innovation and sustainability. Its Eco Services business provides essential sulfuric acid solutions for a range of industries, including chemicals, refining, and agriculture. The company’s regeneration services play a critical role in environmental protection by recycling spent sulfuric acid used in refining processes, reducing waste and emissions.

“This acquisition is a strategic move that builds on our existing capabilities and underscores our role as a reliable partner in the sulfuric acid value chain,” Bitting said. “As demand continues to grow, particularly in sectors focused on cleaner energy and sustainable practices, we are well positioned to meet those needs.”

Ecovyst, headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania, serves customers across the globe and remains focused on leveraging its technical expertise and operational excellence to deliver value across the specialty chemicals market.

Ecovyst Inc. and its subsidiaries are leading global providers of integrated and innovative solutions, including advanced materials, specialty catalysts, virgin sulfuric acid and sulfuric acid regeneration services. The company supports customers worldwide through a strategically located network of manufacturing facilities. Ecovyst believes its products and services play a vital role in enhancing environmental sustainability.
