Eni Seals Long-Term LNG Supply Deal with BOTAS, Boosting Portfolio Diversity and Growing its Global Contracted Volumes

Eni signs a 10-year LNG supply deal with BOTAS, expanding its diversified global LNG portfolio and supporting Türkiye’s long-term energy needs.

Eni has formalized a significant long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) sales agreement with the Turkish state-owned energy company BOTAS, marking an important milestone in the company’s ongoing effort to diversify its portfolio and strengthen its presence in high-potential international markets. This new partnership underscores Eni’s broader strategic ambition to build a stable LNG supply chain, foster long-term relationships, and expand its role in global energy security during a period of evolving market dynamics and rising demand for cleaner, flexible fuels.

As part of the newly signed agreement, Eni will supply BOTAS with approximately 0.4 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG over a ten-year period beginning in 2028. This commitment reflects a deepening collaboration between the two companies and demonstrates Eni’s ability to provide secure, consistent LNG supplies to support Turkey’s growing energy requirements. The new contract serves as an extension of an existing relationship, which was initially strengthened through a three-year LNG supply agreement signed in September 2025. Under that arrangement, Eni agreed to deliver about 0.4 MTPA of LNG to BOTAS starting in November 2025, laying the groundwork for longer-term cooperation.

The latest agreement is also notable as Eni’s first long-term LNG sale specifically to Türkiye, highlighting the country’s strategic role as an emerging and expanding LNG market. Given Turkey’s geographical position as an energy corridor bridging Europe and Asia, and the nation’s ongoing efforts to broaden its energy mix, LNG imports have become increasingly essential to maintaining energy security, meeting industrial demand, and supporting economic growth. By extending its LNG supply commitment to BOTAS, Eni reinforces its position as a reliable partner in Turkey’s long-term energy planning.

From a corporate strategy perspective, the deal aligns closely with Eni’s ambition to enhance the breadth and resilience of its global LNG portfolio. The company has set a target of reaching approximately 20 MTPA of contracted LNG volumes by 2030, a goal supported by a diverse set of upstream and liquefaction projects located across multiple continents. Key contributors to this growth include Eni’s expanding LNG operations in Congo, Mozambique, the United States, Indonesia, and several other resource-rich regions where the company continues to build production capacity and secure long-term offtake agreements.

By partnering with BOTAS through this extended LNG supply arrangement, Eni not only strengthens its commercial presence in a strategically important market but also reinforces its ability to respond to global energy trends that favor cleaner-burning natural gas. The agreement exemplifies Eni’s commitment to building diversified, secure, and future-oriented energy partnerships that support both regional energy needs and the company’s long-term growth objectives worldwide.
