ENOC Group has announced a significant partnership with dnata to supply biodiesel for its entire non-electric ground handling fleet in Dubai. This initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions and support the UAE's transition toward more sustainable energy solutions. The plan will see dnata’s fleet at Dubai’s major airports, Dubai International (DXB) and Al Maktoum International (DWC), powered by a blend of biodiesel, resulting in a projected reduction of over 3,500 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions annually.

The move marks an important step for dnata, a key player in aviation services, as it looks to enhance the sustainability of its operations. With a fleet of approximately 2,500 vehicles supporting over 220,000 flights annually at these two airports, the transition to biodiesel underscores dnata’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint. The gradual rollout has already been initiated across dnata’s ground handling and cargo operations in both airports, signaling a broader shift towards greener practices within the aviation support industry.

This partnership reflects a broader strategic vision for both companies, particularly under the framework of the UAE’s National Policy on Biofuels, which seeks to promote cleaner, renewable energy sources. Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO of ENOC, emphasized the significance of this collaboration in supporting the country’s energy diversification goals. “This partnership underscores ENOC Group’s commitment to expedite the UAE’s transition to clean and sustainable energy sources under the National Policy on Biofuels. We look forward to enabling clean energy alternatives to further diversify the national energy mix,” said Al Falasi. He further highlighted ENOC’s role as a key player in shaping the future of sustainable energy in the UAE by leveraging innovative fuel solutions.

To facilitate this transition, ENOC Group has deployed specialized biofuel trucks and established dedicated fuel stations for dnata’s fleet in Dubai. These resources are essential for ensuring that dnata’s vehicles can seamlessly switch to biodiesel while maintaining operational efficiency across their extensive ground handling services. The use of biodiesel, which is derived from renewable sources, significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional fossil fuels, contributing to a more environmentally friendly energy mix for dnata’s operations.

The partnership between ENOC and dnata is part of a growing global trend toward adopting cleaner energy solutions in industries that rely heavily on transportation and logistics. For dnata, the shift to biodiesel aligns with the broader goals of the aviation industry to minimize its carbon footprint. By integrating sustainable fuels into its ground operations, dnata not only complies with evolving environmental regulations but also sets a benchmark for other companies within the sector.
