European CRC Market Starts 2026 Quietly, but Supply Tightening Signals Build

Cold Rolled Coil (CRC) prices in Germany remained steady in early January; however, market Indicators suggest that CBAM costs and more stringent safeguard measures are likely to curtail imports and drive the prices upward. Poor demand, mainly from the automotive segment, keeps sentiment cautious, while downstream industries fight stricter controls imposed by EU trade.

German CRC prices were rangebound in the week to Tuesday January x, reflecting a quiet start to the year. For Europe as a whole, cold rolled and hot dip galvanized steel prices were steady. Market participants commented that even though the value of CRC has not moved as yet, several structural pressures are building that could influence price sooner rather than later.

On the raw material and supply side, there are several factors that will reportedly start to tighten import availability.
