ExxonMobil Hong Kong Limited (EMHK) has achieved a significant milestone by introducing Esso Renewable Diesel R20, the first renewable diesel fuel available for public road use in Hong Kong and thereby becoming the first supplier of renewable diesel in Hong Kong. The fuel, offered at the Esso Tsing Yi South service station, provides customers with a convenient and effective means to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, demonstrating EMHK's commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.

Esso Renewable Diesel R20 is a premium renewable diesel that boasts approximately 15.4% lower lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to traditional diesel. Containing at least 20% renewable content, this fuel is designed for immediate use in all existing diesel engines, providing excellent protection and enhanced cleaning power through the proprietary Esso Synergy™ additive. Esso Renewable Diesel R20 is currently available at the Esso Tsing Yi South service station and can also be supplied through bulk delivery to commercial clients. This product represents a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions while maintaining high performance and reliability in diesel engines.

Mabel Leung, ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Fuels Sales Director, expressed enthusiasm about the launch of Esso Renewable Diesel R20 in Hong Kong. She highlighted ExxonMobil’s role as the first supplier in Hong Kong to offer this innovative diesel fuel, which provides a drop-in replacement for traditional diesel. The new fuel can be used immediately with existing diesel engines without any modifications. Leung emphasized that this initiative underscores ExxonMobil’s commitment to offering solutions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a more sustainable transportation sector in Hong Kong.

Tony Kwok, ExxonMobil Hong Kong & Macau Fuels Sales Director, called on the government and the commercial vehicle sector to adopt lower-GHG emission fuels like renewable diesel. He highlighted that renewable diesel offers a practical solution for reducing greenhouse gas emissions with minimal adjustments to existing diesel vehicle operations. Kwok emphasized that integrating such fuels can significantly contribute to environmental goals while maintaining operational efficiency.

In conclusion, ExxonMobil Hong Kong Limited’s introduction of Esso Renewable Diesel R20 signifies a pivotal step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Hong Kong. By becoming the first to offer renewable diesel for public road use, EMHK is not only enhancing the accessibility of sustainable fuel options but also setting a benchmark for environmental responsibility in the region. With renewable content and reduction in lifecycle GHG emissions, Esso Renewable Diesel R20 provides an effective and immediate solution for emission reduction, supporting both individual and commercial customers in their pursuit of a greener future.
