FRV and Envision partner for Brazil’s H2 Cumbuco project, advancing green ammonia production and AI-powered renewable energy integration by 2030.

Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), a part of Jameel Energy, has announced a strategic alliance with Envision Energy for the H2 Cumbuco green ammonia project located at Pecém Port, Brazil. This partnership underscores FRV’s continued commitment to accelerating the global energy transition by combining forces with a company known for comprehensive renewable energy systems powered by artificial intelligence.

Envision Energy was selected based on its world-leading capabilities in integrated renewable energy solutions, encompassing everything from renewable generation to green hydrogen production. Envision’s advanced, AI-orchestrated systems and its track record in delivering scalable, modular, and globally replicable clean energy solutions will be pivotal to the success of the H2 Cumbuco project. The collaboration will see the construction of an electrolysis facility with a capacity of up to 500 MW, alongside a fully integrated ammonia plant. These facilities are expected to be operational by 2030, with the intention to serve markets in Brazil, Europe, and Asia.

The H2 Cumbuco initiative marks a significant leap forward for both companies. For FRV, it builds on its portfolio of over 3 GW in operational renewable energy and storage assets across key markets. Envision brings to the table its global leadership in green hydrogen technologies, recently demonstrated by its successful delivery of the world’s largest off-grid, AI-enabled green hydrogen and ammonia facility in Dalian, China, including the world’s first green marine ammonia bunkering operation.

"This partnership goes beyond a typical business arrangement—it's a practical model for enabling the global energy transition," said Henry Peng, Senior Vice President and President of Latin America and the European Region at Envision Energy. "By collaborating with FRV, we are redesigning the renewable energy framework and significantly advancing Brazil’s infrastructure for clean energy."

FRV has long been at the forefront of sustainable energy development, with a strong presence in markets including Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and Latin America. The company has invested heavily in renewable hydrogen technologies and has already secured public funding for two hydrogen-related projects in Spain. Its entry into Brazil’s emerging green hydrogen sector began in earnest in 2023 with the development of the H2 Cumbuco project. The initiative is now in an advanced phase, having secured critical land and water rights and progressed in areas like engineering and environmental permitting.

Felipe Hernández, FRV’s Chief Innovation Officer, emphasized the importance of hydrogen in decarbonizing global economies. "We believe renewable hydrogen and its derivatives will be key drivers of decarbonization," he said. "Brazil, with its strategic location, strong energy policies, and widespread public support, is uniquely positioned to lead in this field. Through our alliance with Envision, we aim to deliver sustainable, competitive energy solutions that benefit both the environment and Brazil’s economic development."

The announcement comes at a significant moment, as Brazil prepares to host COP30. The country is increasingly positioning itself as a leader in green hydrogen and ammonia production, not only to meet domestic energy needs but also to support the global transition to a low-carbon economy through exports.
