New Delhi: On April 14, the nation received the dedication of the 500 TPD Methanol Plant situated in Namrup, Dibrugarh, an accomplishment executed by Assam Petrochemicals Ltd (APL), with Engineers India Limited (EIL) serving as LEPCM consultant. Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the occasion with his presence and officially dedicated the plant to the nation in a ceremony held in Guwahati.

The APL Project, which utilizes natural gas as its feedstock, is one of the largest Methanol plants in India. The plant prides itself on its exceptional energy efficiency, Zero Liquid Discharge approach, and plans for potential integration with an Acetic Acid Plant in the future.

The inauguration of the plant is a major achievement for the Government of India's Methanol Economy plan, which seeks to decrease the country's energy imports and cut back on greenhouse gas emissions by introducing M15 Petrol (a blend of 15% Methanol and Petrol).
