GC maintains full PE production, prioritizes domestic supply, leverages integration, and boosts propylene output to stabilize PP availability and supply chain.

PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC) has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining polyethylene (PE) production at maximum capacity, even as global markets continue to experience volatility and uncertainty. The company is taking a proactive stance to ensure that domestic supply remains stable and sufficient, thereby supporting industries that depend heavily on plastic raw materials. By maintaining full operational output, GC aims to shield local markets from external disruptions and ensure uninterrupted access to essential materials.

To strengthen supply assurance, GC is actively collaborating with government bodies, business partners, customers, and other stakeholders. This coordinated approach is designed to maintain a seamless flow of products within the domestic market, minimizing the risk of shortages. The company has adopted a “Domestic First” allocation strategy, prioritizing local demand before considering exports. In addition, it is implementing careful logistics and delivery planning to ensure that downstream industries receive materials on time and without interruption.

Polyethylene resins—including high-density polyethylene (HDPE), low-density polyethylene (LDPE), and linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE)—play a crucial role in everyday life. These materials are widely used in the production of plastic bags, food packaging films, bottle caps, personal care containers, water storage tanks, fishing equipment, and infrastructure components such as pipes and electrical conduits. By keeping production at full scale, GC is helping to sustain the availability of these essential goods across multiple sectors.

A key factor behind GC’s operational resilience is its fully integrated value chain, which spans upstream feedstock sourcing to downstream product distribution. This integration allows the company to manage feedstock flexibility more effectively, including the use of internally produced raw materials. As a result, GC can better navigate global supply disruptions and price fluctuations, reducing its dependence on external sources and enhancing overall supply security.

Despite stable PE production, certain plastic resins—particularly polypropylene (PP)—have recently faced temporary supply tightness. This situation is largely driven by global supply constraints and reduced imports, as several countries prioritize their own domestic requirements. Polypropylene is a critical material for food packaging applications such as takeaway containers, beverage cups, microwaveable packaging, and industrial bulk bags, making its availability especially important.

To address these challenges, GC has announced plans to restart one of its olefins production units in April after completing scheduled maintenance. This move is expected to increase the production of propylene, the primary feedstock used in polypropylene manufacturing. By boosting propylene supply, GC aims to support domestic PP producers and help stabilize the broader supply chain.

Overall, GC continues to adopt a comprehensive and collaborative approach to supply chain management. From sourcing raw materials to delivering finished products, the company is focused on ensuring consistent, reliable, and uninterrupted supply to its customers, reinforcing confidence in the domestic petrochemical sector.
