In a landmark collaboration, South Korea's HD Hyundai Chemical Co. unveiled its strategic alliance with CJ CheilJedang Corp. to usher in the era of eco-friendly bio-naphtha and its derivative plastic products. This joint effort marks a significant leap towards sustainability, as both companies endeavor to establish a comprehensive eco-circular system at the HD Hyundai Chemical headquarters located in Daesan, South Chungcheong Province.

The collaboration, solidified through a business agreement, outlines a pioneering initiative to integrate bio-raw materials into the production processes of HD Hyundai Chemical. Central to this partnership is CJ CheilJedang's commitment to providing a steady supply of bio-raw materials, including soybean oil and waste cooking oil, to HD Hyundai Chemical. Leveraging these renewable resources, HD Hyundai Chemical will spearhead the production of bio-naphtha, subsequently channeling the output towards the creation of eco-friendly plastic products, which will be seamlessly reintegrated into CJ CheilJedang's operational ecosystem.

One of the primary applications of the eco-friendly plastic will be in the fabrication of convenient home meal containers and packaging materials, enhancing the sustainability quotient of CJ CheilJedang's product offerings. In an ambitious trajectory, HD Hyundai Chemical aims to commence operations with an initial utilization of 400 tons of bio-raw materials, envisaging the production of a substantial 12,000 tons of eco-friendly plastic products by the year's end.

A groundbreaking achievement for the South Korean industrial landscape, HD Hyundai Chemical's entire process, spanning from the procurement of bio-raw materials to the manufacturing of bio-naphtha and resultant products, has attained the prestigious International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC). This certification, a first of its kind in South Korea, signifies a meticulous adherence to stringent environmental standards and underscores the commitment towards sustainable practices.

An official from HD Hyundai Chemical underscored the significance of this milestone, emphasizing that the attainment of ISCC certification for the entire production process signifies a watershed moment in South Korea's sustainability journey. The ISCC certification, an internationally recognized validation of environmental stewardship, serves as a testament to HD Hyundai Chemical's unwavering dedication to fostering eco-friendly solutions within the realm of chemical production.

The partnership between HD Hyundai Chemical and CJ CheilJedang stands as a beacon of innovation and sustainability in South Korea's corporate landscape. Through the convergence of expertise and resources, both entities are poised to revolutionize the production paradigm, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future.
