Hindustan Zinc has partnered with GreenLine Mobility Solutions to launch a significant green logistics transition in India.

In a landmark move toward sustainable operations, Hindustan Zinc Limited, a global leader in the Zinc Industry, has announced a strategic Partnership with GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd. to initiate one of India's most significant green logistics transitions. This collaboration, formalized on August 4, 2025, is a major step in Hindustan Zinc's ambitious journey to achieve a 100% decarbonized supply chain, leveraging cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) technology.

The partnership involves a substantial investment of Rs.400 crore by GreenLine Mobility to introduce a fleet of 100 electric trucks for the movement of concentrate between Hindustan Zinc’s mines and smelters. This deployment is a pioneering effort, as it will be supported by India's first commercial-scale battery swapping infrastructure, featuring three high-capacity stations designed for 24x7 operations. This innovative system is poised to eliminate the downtime associated with traditional EV charging, ensuring continuous, efficient transport logistics.

In addition to the EV fleet, the collaboration will see a significant expansion of Hindustan Zinc's LNG fleet. GreenLine will add 100 new LNG trucks, effectively doubling the company's existing fleet to 200 vehicles. These trucks will be used for long-haul transport of finished goods, offering a cleaner alternative to traditional diesel vehicles and contributing to a considerable reduction in long-haul carbon emissions.

This green transition is expected to yield significant environmental and economic benefits. The initiative is estimated to reduce approximately 236 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions per month, an impact equivalent to planting around 12,000 trees. The combined effort is projected to slash about 150,000 tonnes of Scope 3 emissions annually, moving Hindustan Zinc closer to its goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 or sooner. The company also anticipates cost efficiencies through discounted freight rates, demonstrating that environmental responsibility can align with business profitability.

This initiative aligns with Hindustan Zinc's broader sustainability goals. The company has set ambitious 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. These targets include a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions from a 2020 baseline, reinforcing its leadership in corporate responsibility.

GreenLine Mobility, which currently operates over 650 LNG trucks, aims for rapid expansion. The company plans to grow its clean truck fleet to more than 10,000 vehicles, supported by a nationwide network of 100 LNG refuelling stations, EV charging hubs, and battery swapping facilities.
