This partnership represents one of the largest single-site natural gas transactions in North American history, ensuring long-term energy security for the ambitious project.

Homer City Redevelopment (HCR) today announced a monumental agreement in principle with EQT Corporation that will see the latter serve as the exclusive natural gas supplier for the 4.4 gigawatt natural gas facility powering the Homer City Energy Campus. This expansive 3,200-acre AI and high-performance computing (HPC) data center campus, currently under construction, is slated to commence power production in 2027, positioning itself as a critical infrastructure hub for America's burgeoning digital future.

Under the terms of the Agreement, HCR is poised to achieve an unparalleled level of gas supply redundancy for the site. The facility will boast the capability to source natural gas from both the Texas Eastern Transmission and Eastern Gas Transmission and Storage pipeline systems, ensuring robust and reliable energy delivery. This crucial aspect of the agreement will unlock a substantial natural gas supply of up to 665,000 MMBTUs per day, making this transaction one of the largest single-site natural gas purchases ever recorded in North American history.

This strategic partnership marks a significant stride in HCR’s ambitious vision for the former Homer City Generating Station, a plan first unveiled on April 2, 2025. The transformation will see what once Pennsylvania’s largest coal-burning power plant evolved into a cutting-edge power and data infrastructure center, seamlessly integrating high-performance AI computing with a fully integrated, on-site natural gas generating station.

Corey Hessen, CEO of Homer City Redevelopment, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “EQT is synonymous with Pennsylvania energy and American innovation, and we are thrilled to have them as a partner for this project.” Hessen emphasized the long-term energy security this agreement provides for the data center campus, underscoring HCR’s commitment to "powering the future with Pennsylvania gas, Pennsylvania power and ultimately, Pennsylvania data centers."

Toby Z. Rice, President and CEO of EQT Corporation, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the broader implications of the project. “This project is a win for Pennsylvania and for America. We are proud to be named the exclusive partner to provide the energy needed to power the Homer City Energy Campus and the future of AI,” Rice affirmed.

Further bolstering the project's development, GE Vernova recently announced the finalization of a full order to provide seven of its high-efficiency 7HA.02 natural gas turbines to the Homer City Energy Campus. The initial deliveries of these critical components are anticipated to commence in 2026.
