J.M. Huber Corporation announced today a significant expansion of its Huber Advanced Materials (HAM) business unit through the acquisition of The R.J. Marshall Company’s Alumina Trihydrate (ATH), antimony-free flame retardant, and molybdate-based smoke suppressant assets. This move positions HAM as a stronger leader in the North American market for advanced material technologies.

The acquisition encompasses R.J. Marshall’s established Alumina Trihydrate and Marshall Additive Technologies product lines, specifically excluding those containing antimony trioxide. These product lines are highly regarded within the industry for their consistent quality and reliable performance in a variety of applications. By integrating these assets, HAM significantly enhances its existing portfolio of halogen-free fire retardant and smoke suppressant solutions. This expansion will provide customers with a broader spectrum of high-performance materials and solidify HAM’s commitment to meeting the evolving demands of the market.

A key driver behind this acquisition is the growing industry demand for cost-effective and environmentally conscious alternatives to antimony trioxide, a common flame retardant. The inclusion of R.J. Marshall’s antimony-free product lines directly addresses this need, enabling HAM to offer its customers more sustainable and potentially more economical solutions without compromising on performance.

Martin Schulting, Global Vice President Sales & Marketing at Huber Advanced Materials, emphasized the strategic importance of this acquisition, stating, “This acquisition underlines HAM’s strategic commitment to grow our halogen-free fire retardant and smoke suppressant portfolio and expand our product offering for our customers.” His statement highlights the company’s proactive approach to strengthening its position in the market by offering a more comprehensive and innovative range of products.

Echoing this sentiment, Fidel Agbor, Director of Global Product Management at Huber Advanced Materials, expressed his enthusiasm about the integration of the new assets. “We are excited to incorporate R.J. Marshall’s antimony-free fire retardant and smoke suppressant products into the HAM portfolio,” said Agbor. “This acquisition aligns with our strategic goals and will enable us to better serve our customers with an expanded range of high-performance materials.”

Huber Advanced Materials is prioritizing a seamless transition for all existing and future customers. The company has pledged to provide comprehensive support and maintain open communication throughout the integration process. This commitment aims to address any potential questions or concerns and ensure uninterrupted access to the high-quality materials that customers have come to expect from both Huber and R.J. Marshall.
