In a significant development for green hydrogen production, Hystar AS has secured a deal to supply a 0.75 MW electrolyser to Fortum, a major Finnish energy company. This key equipment will be deployed at Fortum's hydrogen pilot plant located in Källa, Loviisa, Finland. This collaboration underscores Fortum’s commitment to advancing hydrogen technology and exploring sustainable energy solutions. The electrolyser, supplied by Hystar, will play a crucial role in Fortum’s pilot plant, contributing to the development of efficient and clean hydrogen production methods. This partnership highlights the growing importance of hydrogen as a key component in the transition to renewable energy and the reduction of carbon emissions.

Fortum’s hydrogen pilot plant, situated east of Helsinki, is scheduled for commissioning in late 2025. The plant will utilize electrolysis to produce hydrogen by using electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. Integral to the project, Hystar will provide a 0.75 MW containerized PEM electrolyser system, ensuring efficient and sustainable hydrogen production. Additionally, a filling station will be constructed adjacent to the plant, facilitating the delivery of hydrogen to industrial customers. This development marks a significant step in Fortum’s commitment to advancing clean energy technologies and promoting the use of hydrogen as a viable, eco-friendly energy source.

Fredrik Mowill, CEO of Hystar, expressed excitement about the opportunity to partner with Fortum, marking a strategic move into a new market. He emphasized the importance of this collaboration in accelerating the global adoption of Hystar’s electrolysers. Mowill highlighted the company's eagerness to work closely with Fortum’s team to ensure the successful deployment and reliable operation of the Källa pilot project. This partnership represents a pivotal moment for Hystar, reinforcing its commitment to expanding its innovative hydrogen technologies on a global scale and driving progress in the clean energy sector.

Hystar is revolutionizing the green hydrogen market with its breakthrough PEM electrolyser technology. These systems boast industry-leading efficiency, enabling the cost-effective production of clean hydrogen at a massive scale. This positions Hystar as a key player in the global energy transition by providing a sustainable and scalable solution for decarbonization efforts across various sectors.

Fortum is a frontrunner in the Nordic energy market, driving the transition towards a sustainable future. Their core mission centers on empowering people, businesses, and the natural world to thrive in a shared environment. This commitment manifests in two key ways: first, by generating and supplying clean energy in a reliable and consistent manner. Second, by collaborating with industries to develop and implement decarbonization strategies, enabling them to achieve sustainable growth while minimizing their environmental footprint.
