INOX Air Products partners with TACC to build nitrogen plant, supporting battery-grade graphite production and advancing India’s clean energy ecosystem.

INOX Air Products (INOXAP), a prominent player in India’s industrial and medical gases sector, has announced a strategic long-term partnership with The Advanced Carbons Company (TACC Limited) to support the development of advanced battery materials. As part of this collaboration, INOXAP will design, construct, and operate a dedicated onsite nitrogen generation facility at TACC’s upcoming greenfield manufacturing plant located in Dewas. This facility will focus on producing lithium-ion battery-grade graphite anode material, a critical component in electric vehicle (EV) batteries and energy storage systems.

The nitrogen plant will be established under a Build, Own, and Operate (BOO) model, ensuring uninterrupted availability of high-purity nitrogen tailored to TACC’s manufacturing requirements. This approach allows INOXAP to maintain operational control while delivering a reliable, safe, and efficient gas supply system. High-purity nitrogen plays a vital role in maintaining controlled environments during graphite production, directly impacting product quality, consistency, and process efficiency.

Highlighting the importance of this collaboration, Diganta Sarma, Head of Business Development and Strategy at INOXAP, emphasized that TACC is emerging as a leader in advanced carbon materials. He noted that the partnership reflects a shared vision centered on sustainability, innovation, and long-term industrial growth. According to him, the agreement not only showcases INOXAP’s technical expertise but also strengthens its ability to support industries that are crucial to India’s clean energy transition, including electric mobility and energy storage. He further described the partnership as a strategic move toward building a resilient and future-ready industrial ecosystem.

TACC Limited, known for its focus on advanced carbon technologies, specializes in the development of battery-grade synthetic graphite anode materials. These materials are essential for enhancing battery performance, longevity, and efficiency. In addition to graphite, TACC is also advancing graphene-based derivatives, which have applications across multiple industries such as construction, textiles, coatings, and specialty chemicals. The integration of a dedicated nitrogen supply is expected to significantly improve manufacturing precision and scalability, enabling TACC to meet global quality standards.

Ankur Khaitan, Managing Director and CEO of TACC, highlighted that the production of battery-grade graphite requires stringent control over purity and process conditions. He stated that the partnership with INOXAP ensures a dependable supply of high-quality nitrogen, which is crucial for achieving consistency at scale. He also emphasized that this collaboration aligns with India’s broader ambitions to strengthen its advanced materials sector and accelerate the adoption of electric mobility and clean energy technologies.

Through this initiative, INOXAP aims to further solidify its leadership in industrial gas infrastructure by delivering reliable, compliant, and safe solutions tailored to emerging industries. The collaboration also underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability and its role in supporting India’s transition toward a cleaner energy landscape. Together, INOX Air Products and TACC are contributing to the development of a robust domestic supply chain for advanced battery materials, laying a strong foundation for sustainable industrial growth and technological innovation in India’s evolving green energy ecosystem.
