KBR wins Libya refinery project contract, providing project management and technical services to boost downstream capacity and infrastructure development over 50 months.
KBR has secured a significant contract from Zallaf Exploration, Production and Refining of Oil and Gas Company to deliver comprehensive project management and technical support services for the South Refinery Project located in Ubari, southwest Libya. This development marks an important step in strengthening Libya’s downstream oil and gas sector, with the project expected to play a key role in enhancing the country’s refining capacity and overall energy infrastructure.
As part of the agreement, KBR will be responsible for overseeing contract management, project execution, and a wide range of technical services throughout the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) phases. The scope of work reflects KBR’s expertise in managing complex energy projects, ensuring that all stages of the refinery’s development are executed efficiently and in alignment with international standards. The contract will span approximately 50 months, during which KBR will provide end-to-end oversight to support timely and cost-effective delivery.
The South Refinery Project is aligned with KBR’s long-standing involvement in Libya’s infrastructure development and its continued commitment to supporting the country’s energy ambitions. Over the years, KBR has built a strong presence in Libya by contributing to several high-profile projects. Among these is its work on the Great Man-Made River Project, widely regarded as the largest irrigation initiative in the world.
