KBR wins long-term SATORP maintenance contract in Saudi Arabia, boosting petrochemical expansion reliability, performance, and digital-driven operational efficiency.

KBR has secured a significant long-term General Maintenance Services (GMS) contract from Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company to support its major petrochemical expansion complex located in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. The agreement spans seven years, with an additional option to extend for three more years, highlighting the long-term strategic importance of the collaboration between the two companies.

As part of this contract, KBR will provide an extensive range of maintenance solutions across the facility. These services will include preventive maintenance to avoid equipment failures, predictive maintenance using data-driven insights, corrective maintenance to address operational issues, and shutdown maintenance to ensure safe and efficient plant turnarounds. The overarching objective is to enhance operational reliability, maximize asset performance, and maintain consistent production efficiency throughout the petrochemical complex.

This latest award further strengthens the long-standing relationship between KBR and SATORP, built over more than a decade of successful cooperation. Leveraging its global experience and technical capabilities, KBR aims to support seamless commissioning and start-up activities for the expanded complex. The company’s approach focuses on achieving optimal plant performance from the outset, ensuring high levels of availability and reliability while simultaneously controlling operational costs.

The expansion project itself is strategically significant, as it is closely integrated with SATORP’s existing refinery operations in Jubail—widely regarded as one of the most sophisticated and efficient refining facilities in the world. By aligning maintenance operations with the refinery’s advanced systems, KBR will help ensure that the expanded petrochemical complex operates at top-quartile performance levels within the global industry.

Jay Ibrahim, President of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions, emphasized the importance of this partnership, noting that the company is committed to supporting SATORP’s growth ambitions while maintaining a strong focus on safety and operational excellence. He highlighted that KBR will continue to contribute to in-country value creation, a key priority in Saudi Arabia’s industrial strategy, while fostering a robust safety culture across all operations.

In addition, KBR plans to incorporate advanced analytics and digital technologies into its maintenance framework. These tools will enable real-time monitoring, predictive insights, and continuous performance improvements, ultimately driving more efficient and sustainable operations over the lifecycle of the facility. The integration of digital solutions is expected to play a critical role in optimizing asset reliability and reducing unplanned downtime.

With over 70 years of experience in the downstream energy sector, KBR has established itself as a leader in delivering maintenance and operational solutions for complex industrial facilities worldwide. This latest contract further reinforces its position as a trusted partner for large-scale petrochemical and refining projects, particularly in regions undergoing rapid industrial expansion.
