Kemira Expands North American Water Services with ANMAC Acquisition

Kemira, a leading provider of sustainable chemical solutions for water-intensive industries, has finalized the acquisition of the business operations and related assets of California-based ANMAC Water Treatment Service, Inc. The acquisition marks another strategic step in Kemira’s expansion across North America and reinforces its presence in the rapidly growing industrial water treatment services market. By incorporating ANMAC’s specialized expertise, Kemira aims to enhance its service portfolio while strengthening customer relationships in a sector experiencing faster growth than conventional water treatment markets.

The transaction covers ANMAC’s operational assets, customer agreements, and ongoing business activities. ANMAC has established a strong reputation for delivering water treatment solutions that help prevent pinhole corrosion in plumbing systems. Its services primarily cater to large residential and commercial facilities, including multi-family apartment complexes, hospitals, senior living communities, hotels, and office buildings. These preventive solutions play an important role in maintaining water infrastructure, extending equipment lifespan, and reducing maintenance costs for building owners.

During 2025, ANMAC generated approximately USD 8.5 million in revenue and employed a workforce of 19 professionals. Although Kemira and ANMAC have not disclosed the financial terms of the acquisition, the deal represents another investment in Kemira’s long-term strategy of expanding its industrial water treatment capabilities in North America.

According to Tuija Pohjolainen-Hiltunen, Executive Vice President of Kemira’s Water Solutions business, the acquisition will allow the company to provide greater value to customers by combining ANMAC’s service-oriented expertise with Kemira’s advanced chemical technologies and application capabilities. She emphasized that the acquisition aligns with Kemira’s strategy of accelerating both organic and acquisition-led growth within the industrial water treatment segment.

This acquisition is Kemira’s third strategic purchase since acquiring Water Engineering, Inc., which established a strong foundation for the company’s expansion into industrial water treatment services across North America. By continuously investing in specialized service providers, Kemira is broadening its regional footprint while strengthening its technical expertise and customer support network.

Following the completion of the transaction, ANMAC’s operations will be integrated into Kemira’s Water Solutions business unit. The acquired business will continue operating from its existing California location, ensuring continuity for customers and employees while benefiting from Kemira’s broader technological resources, product portfolio, and global expertise.

The acquisition reflects Kemira’s commitment to expanding its sustainable water treatment offerings as demand continues to rise for efficient water management, infrastructure protection, and advanced chemical treatment solutions in commercial and industrial facilities throughout North America.

Impact on Products and Chemical Commodity Prices

The acquisition is expected to increase demand for specialty water treatment chemicals, particularly corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, biocides, coagulants, flocculants, phosphonates, and water treatment polymers used in commercial and industrial buildings. As Kemira expands its service network and customer base, procurement of these chemicals is likely to rise steadily. However, given ANMAC’s relatively modest business size, the impact on overall market supply-demand dynamics will remain limited.
