Netherlands: Hyphen Hydrogen Energy has recently inked a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Koole Terminals. The agreement pertains to Hyphen's proposed import of green Ammonia into the north-western parts of Europe via Koole Terminals' import terminal, currently under development in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Koole, a seasoned independent operator of 21 liquid bulk terminals in seven countries, has announced a partnership with Hyphen to become a launching customer for the proposed Ammonia import terminal at the Port of Rotterdam. This collaboration will enable the expansion of the multi-million tonne facility and leverage the company's existing expertise in handling and storing Ammonia. As a leading facilitator of the energy transition, Koole's established infrastructure, terminals, modalities, and integrated solutions make it well-positioned to drive further growth in this area.

The Port of Rotterdam is a crucial hub in north-western Europe, and it has taken swift action in supporting the creation of new green Hydrogen import capacity to assist with the region's energy transition. The supply chain is hampered by a lack of import capacity and market access, making it necessary to address these issues. Koole Terminals is one of the state-of-the-art import terminals that is being developed, and excited to collaborate with both Koole Terminals and the Port of Rotterdam to ensure that our project's initial Ammonia supply is available in Europe by early 2028.

Hyphen has set a target to achieve an annual production of 1 million tonnes of green Ammonia by the end of 2027. Additionally, it hopes to increase this production capacity to 2 million tonnes of green Ammonia by 2029.
