Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has won a major contract from Adani Power to build eight new 800 MW thermal power units, totaling 6,400 MW.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has been awarded a significant ultra-mega contract by Adani Power Ltd to develop eight state-of-the-art thermal power units, each with a capacity of 800 MW. The project, which will add a total of 6,400 MW of new generation capacity, marks a major milestone for both companies and is set to bolster India's energy infrastructure.

The contract will be executed by L&T Energy – CarbonLite Solutions (LTECLS), a specialized business vertical within L&T focused on advanced power and low-carbon technologies. The scope of the work is comprehensive, encompassing the entire process from initial design and engineering to manufacturing, supply, and final commissioning of the Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) packages. The agreement also includes the provision of auxiliaries and all associated mechanical, electrical, and control & instrumentation (C&I) systems, ensuring a complete and integrated solution.

Subramanian Sarma, Deputy Managing Director & President of L&T, highlighted the strategic importance of the project. "In today’s dynamic energy landscape, where India’s demand for reliable and affordable power continues to grow, this order from the Adani Group reinforces our role as a leading partner in building the country’s critical energy infrastructure," he stated. His comments underscore L&T’s commitment to supporting India’s energy needs and its strong position in the power sector.

Adani Power Ltd, recognized as India’s largest private sector electricity generator from coal, currently operates with an installed capacity of over 18,000 MW. The company plays a crucial role in providing baseload electricity to meet the nation's consistent power requirements. This new project with L&T is a continuation of their long-standing partnership, combining L&T’s established expertise in engineering and project execution with Adani’s vision for delivering efficient and dependable energy to millions of homes and industries across India.

LTECLS is uniquely equipped to handle such a large-scale project due to its integrated capabilities in engineering, manufacturing, and project execution. The business vertical is dedicated to providing solutions for power and low-carbon processes, leveraging its in-house expertise and strategic collaborations with global industry leaders. This partnership is expected to drive innovation and efficiency, contributing to the development of robust and sustainable energy solutions for the country. The project is a key step in enhancing India's power generation capacity and ensuring a stable energy supply for its growing population and industrial sector.
