Linde will build and operate a new air separation plant in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, supplying oxygen, nitrogen, and argon by 2028.

Linde plc has announced plans to strengthen its production and supply network in the United States by constructing a new industrial gas facility in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The company said the project will involve building, owning, and operating a new air separation unit designed to supply key industrial gases to a wide range of customers across the region.

The proposed facility will be located in Oshkosh, a city in northeastern Wisconsin that serves as an important industrial and logistics hub. Once operational, the plant will produce liquid oxygen, nitrogen, and argon—three essential gases widely used in sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, food processing, electronics, and metal fabrication. These gases play a crucial role in numerous industrial applications, including welding, chemical production, medical treatments, and refrigeration processes.

According to the company, the new air separation unit will primarily support customers located in major Wisconsin cities such as Green Bay, Madison, and Milwaukee. In addition, it will also extend its supply reach to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, helping industries in that region gain improved access to reliable industrial gas deliveries. By placing the production facility closer to customers, Linde aims to reduce transportation distances, improve delivery efficiency, and ensure a more dependable supply chain.

Preparations for the project are already underway. The company has begun acquiring the land required for the new facility and is also moving forward with the procurement of key equipment needed for the air separation unit. Air separation plants use advanced cryogenic technology to separate atmospheric air into its main components—oxygen, nitrogen, and argon—by cooling the air to extremely low temperatures. This technology enables companies like Linde to supply high-purity gases in liquid form for storage and transportation.

The plant is expected to begin operations in the second half of 2028, marking a significant addition to Linde’s production footprint in the Midwest region of the United States. Once completed, the facility will become part of the company’s broader network of gas production plants that serve customers across North America.

Patrick McKenna, Vice President for the North Region at Linde, highlighted the economic momentum currently taking place in Wisconsin and surrounding areas. He noted that the state is witnessing strong growth across multiple industries, which is increasing demand for industrial gases. McKenna explained that investing in new infrastructure allows Linde to stay ahead of that demand while providing faster and more efficient supply to its customers.

He added that locating production facilities closer to customers strengthens the company’s supply network and improves reliability, especially for industries that depend heavily on consistent gas deliveries for their operations. The investment also reflects Linde’s strategy of expanding its presence in regions where industrial activity and economic development are accelerating.

Overall, the new air separation plant in Oshkosh represents a long-term infrastructure investment aimed at supporting regional manufacturing growth, improving logistics efficiency, and enhancing Linde’s ability to meet the rising demand for industrial gases across Wisconsin and neighboring regions.
