Linde will build a new air separation plant in North Carolina to expand industrial gas supply capacity by 2028.

Linde has announced plans to establish a new air separation facility in Garysburg, North Carolina, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its industrial gas production network in the United States. The company confirmed that it will build, own, and operate the plant, reinforcing its long-term commitment to supporting regional industrial growth and ensuring a stable supply of essential gases.

The upcoming facility will focus on the production of key industrial gases, including liquid oxygen, nitrogen, and argon. These gases play a vital role across a wide range of industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, chemicals, and energy. By expanding its capacity in this region, Linde aims to better serve existing customers while also positioning itself to meet increasing demand from new and emerging industries.

The company has already initiated the process of acquiring land and procuring the necessary equipment required for the construction of the site. This early-stage groundwork indicates that the project is moving forward as planned, with a clear timeline in place. According to the announcement, the air separation unit (ASU) is expected to become operational by the end of 2028, marking a significant addition to Linde’s infrastructure in North America.

This investment comes at a time when demand for industrial gases is rising steadily across multiple sectors in the region. Economic expansion, technological advancements, and the growth of manufacturing activities have all contributed to the need for a more reliable and scalable gas supply. By building this new plant, Linde seeks to enhance its production capabilities and ensure it can efficiently meet both current requirements and future market needs.

Todd Lawson, Vice President for the East Region at Linde, emphasized the strategic importance of the project. He noted that the company is witnessing substantial growth across several end markets in the area, which has driven the decision to invest in additional production capacity. He also highlighted that the new facility will complement Linde’s already strong supply network, enabling the company to deliver high-quality industrial gases more effectively to its customers.

Overall, the new air separation plant represents a forward-looking investment that aligns with Linde’s broader strategy of expanding its footprint in high-growth regions. By strengthening its infrastructure and increasing output capacity, the company is positioning itself to play a crucial role in supporting industrial development while maintaining a reliable supply chain for essential gases.
