Lubrizol Introduces MF9145V Diesel Additive to Address DPF Maintenance Issues in China

Lubrizol has launched Lubrizol® MF9145V, a diesel additive aimed at reducing DPF regeneration frequency and improving fuel efficiency in China’s diverse driving conditions. Backed by extensive lab and field testing, the additive minimizes soot at the source, enhances engine performance, and complies with China’s Non-Road Stage IV emissions standards.

Lubrizol, a global specialty chemicals leader, has unveiled its latest innovation—Lubrizol® MF9145V, a diesel fuel additive formulated to enhance combustion efficiency and reduce diesel particulate matter (DPM) emissions at the source. This product is designed to alleviate the common issue of frequent Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) regeneration, a process that often increases fuel usage, disrupts driving, and contributes to component wear and tear.

Frequent DPF regeneration is a widespread concern for diesel vehicle operators in China due to the nation’s diverse road conditions, fuel quality, and climate. Vehicles operating in urban, mountainous, or cold environments experience varied combustion challenges. Lubrizol® MF9145V directly addresses these issues with enhanced sulfur tolerance and optimization for start-stop traffic, heavy load operations, and long-distance climbs. According to Henry Liu, Vice President of Lubrizol Asia Pacific and Head of the Additives Division, the additive was developed based on deep insights into local driving conditions to deliver cleaner combustion and improved engine performance across all terrains.

Proven Benefits Through Rigorous Testing

The effectiveness of Lubrizol® MF9145V has been validated through an extensive testing regime, combining both controlled lab experiments and real-world field trials. In laboratory simulations tailored to replicate China's demanding conditions, diesel engines treated with the additive showed significantly lower DPM accumulation in the DPF. These tests revealed a 28% improvement in exhaust system flow efficiency, with performance durability maintained even after three cycles of intense operational stress.

In field trials, vehicles equipped with DD13 engines followed a two-step approach: an initial "deep clean" using PowerZol™ ZD9149, followed by continuous low-dose application of MF9145V. This strategy delivered compelling results—a 25% reduction in DPF regeneration frequency, decreased fuel consumption, and better engine responsiveness. These benefits contributed to lower maintenance costs and less vehicle downtime.

Custom-Built for China’s Driving Landscape

Lubrizol® MF9145V is engineered to perform in a wide range of Chinese driving environments. Long-haul freight trucks benefit from reduced DPF regeneration during extended highway use, construction vehicles operate efficiently under heavy loads, and urban logistics fleets see cleaner emissions under stop-and-go traffic. Even under extreme temperatures, such as Northern China’s frigid mornings or the long climbs of the Northwest, the additive enables efficient combustion.

Additionally, MF9145V complies with China’s Non-Road Stage IV emission regulations, which require effective DPF aftertreatment. By minimizing soot formation and preventing clogging, the additive supports sustainable, regulation-compliant vehicle operation.

“Our development of Lubrizol MF9145V is backed by scientific evidence,” said Liu. “We are committed to offering diesel vehicle owners in China a cost-effective, performance-enhancing solution that delivers peace of mind.”
