Lummus Technology has strengthened its position in the environmental technology sector through the acquisition of key intellectual property (IP) assets and experienced personnel from Shell Catalysts & Technologies' Environmental Catalysts and Systems (ECS) business. The strategic acquisition broadens Lummus' portfolio of emissions-control solutions while reinforcing its ability to deliver integrated technologies for refining, petrochemicals, waste processing, and other industrial applications.

The ECS business has built a strong reputation for developing reliable and cost-effective air pollution control technologies that help industrial facilities meet increasingly stringent environmental regulations. Through this transaction, Lummus gains access to a well-established global customer network, long-standing service relationships, and advanced technologies that have demonstrated high levels of emissions reduction across multiple industrial sectors.

In several applications, ECS technologies have demonstrated pollutant removal efficiencies exceeding 98–99%.
