Morrison has been selected by Shell Pipeline Company LP to construct a new elevated oil metering facility at Fourchon Junction, a key energy hub in Louisiana.

Morrison, a premier energy service provider, announced today that it has been awarded a significant infrastructure contract by Shell Pipeline Company LP. The project centers on the construction of a state-of-the-art, elevated oil metering facility at Fourchon Junction, a vital nexus point situated just south of Port Fourchon, Louisiana. This initiative is poised to be a game-changer for the Gulf of America's energy network, strengthening a critical link for oil transportation.

Morrison's contract encompasses the full spectrum of project execution, leveraging the company's integrated capabilities. The scope of work is comprehensive, covering all phases from initial planning to final commissioning. Morrison will be responsible for meticulous project management, detailed planning and scheduling, logistic coordination, and rigorous oversight of subcontractors.

A significant portion of the work involves extensive off-site fabrication. Approximately 500 tons of modules will be pre-fabricated at Morrison’s dedicated waterfront facilities located in Houma and Harvey, Louisiana. This modular approach is designed to streamline on-site assembly, enhance quality control, and minimize disruption at the critical Fourchon Junction site.

The on-site scope includes the construction of robust civil sub-foundations necessary to support the elevated Main Facility Platform, selective and surgical demolition of existing, outdated infrastructure, and the intricate installation of interconnecting piping. Furthermore, the contract includes the crucial task of instrumentation and electrical (I&E) integration, ensuring all new systems are seamlessly integrated and commissioned to the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency. The project culminates with the full commissioning of the new Main Facility Platform and its associated operational systems.

The Fourchon Junction is widely recognized as a critical infrastructure hub, playing a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing access and capacity for oil transportation throughout the region. The new facility is designed to significantly boost regional flow capacity, enhance system functionality, and improve the overall reliability of several high-capacity offshore oil pipeline systems connected to the hub. In a region where energy infrastructure resilience is paramount, this upgrade represents a key strategic investment by Shell Pipeline Co.

Ches Morrison, director of construction at Morrison, underscored the importance of the project in a recent statement. "Fourchon Junction is a critical infrastructure hub in the Gulf of America energy network, and Morrison recognizes the significance of this project," he commented. "We are honored to support this strategic project for Shell Pipeline Co. and contribute to the enduring reliability of the nation’s energy supply."
