Prism Worldwide has launched breakthrough technologies in tire recycling, including odor-reduced rubber, sustainable TPVs, and high-content recycled EPDM. These cost-effective, American-made materials enable up to 50% recycled content in advanced manufacturing without performance trade-offs, transforming sustainable production in automotive and consumer goods while eliminating the need for a green premium.

Prism Worldwide, a leading force in innovative material science, has announced a significant leap forward in the tire recycling and sustainable manufacturing sectors. The company has unveiled three pioneering advancements that promise to redefine how end-of-life tires and rubber materials are repurposed. These innovations focus on odor reduction, the development of sustainable thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs), and the reuse of high-content Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM)—long-standing challenges that have hampered the broader acceptance of recycled rubber in both industrial and consumer applications.

Prism’s new suite of technologies is designed to produce American-made materials through non-capital-intensive methods, keeping costs lower than virgin alternatives. This cost-efficiency is increasingly valuable in a global environment shaped by tariff concerns and a growing preference for domestically sourced materials. As a result, manufacturers can now integrate sustainable solutions without incurring additional expenses—eliminating the so-called "green premium" that often deters adoption.

Bob Abramowitz, CEO of Prism Worldwide, emphasized the disruptive nature of the developments, stating, “We haven’t just made minor improvements—we’ve overcome major hurdles like odor, cost, and performance with commercially scalable solutions. This is a game-changer for both end-of-life tire recycling and sustainable polymer innovation.”

Crucially, Prism’s materials can be seamlessly integrated into existing manufacturing lines, avoiding the need for retooling or operational changes. The technological upgrades allow up to 50% recycled content from end-of-life tires in processes like injection molding, extrusion, and rotational molding—far beyond the traditional limit associated with compression molding. This advancement unlocks new potential for recycled materials in products such as automotive interiors, gym flooring, and other consumer goods, without the odor issues that have historically plagued recycled rubber.

The three major breakthroughs include:

1.           Odor-Reduced Tire Materials: Prism has created a proprietary process that drastically cuts the persistent odors typically associated with recycled rubber. Independent lab validation confirms these materials meet automotive-grade odor and VOC standards, making them suitable for indoor applications like car interiors and building products.

2.           Sustainable TPVs from Recycled Tires: Prism’s patent-pending TPV innovation uses rubber derived from end-of-life tires, marking a first for the industry. This offers manufacturers an avenue to produce high-value, sustainable TPVs without compromising performance.

3.           High-Content Recycled EPDM: Known for its durability and resilience, EPDM has traditionally been difficult to recycle due to crosslinking. Prism’s new devulcanization method enables high-percentage reuse while retaining essential performance characteristics, benefiting sectors such as automotive, roofing, and construction.

Through these advancements, Prism Worldwide is establishing a new benchmark for sustainable materials, demonstrating that profitability and environmental responsibility can coexist—and thrive—together.
