Pulsar Helium's Topaz project in Minnesota has emerged as a globally significant development in the helium industry, marked by the discovery of exceptionally high-grade helium and the rare isotope helium-3. This comes at a critical time amidst a tightening global helium supply and increasing geopolitical instability affecting traditional sources. The project's advancement is further bolstered by new, helium-specific legislation enacted by the state of Minnesota, creating a clearer regulatory pathway for extraction and production.
Key events at the Topaz project began with the drilling of the Jetstream 1 well, which in February 2024, revealed natural gas samples with up to 13.8% helium concentrations, considered one of the highest ever found terrestrially. Subsequent drilling campaigns, including Jetstream #4, have maintained a 100% success rate, consistently finding high-pressure gas with helium concentrations significantly exceeding the 2% industry threshold for economic viability.
