The Henrique Lage Refinery (Revap) in São José dos Campos, Brazil, has announced record-breaking production of S10 diesel and kerosene in the first half of 2025.
The Henrique Lage Refinery (Revap), a key operational unit of Petrobras located in São José dos Campos, São Paulo, has reported an exceptional performance in the first half of 2025, setting new production records for S10 diesel and kerosene. Furthermore, the refinery achieved its highest total utilization factor (TFP) at its current reference load in the past nine years, underscoring its enhanced operational efficiency and reliability.
Between January and June 2025, Revap produced an impressive 1,187,913 cubic meters of S10 diesel, which translates to approximately 1.2 billion liters. This volume comfortably surpassed the previous record of 1,065,712 cubic meters, established during the same period in 2024. To put this into perspective, this record output of S10 diesel is enough to fill the tanks of approximately 3 million buses, each with a 400-liter fuel capacity, highlighting the sheer scale of the refinery's production capabilities.
The refinery also hit a significant milestone in kerosene production, reaching 1,082,860 cubic meters (approximately 1.1 billion liters) in the first half of the year. This represents the best result for kerosene production since 2024, when it registered 1,075,841 cubic meters. The comprehensive kerosene volume includes critical products such as Jet-A (jet fuel), medium solvent, and illuminating kerosene, all vital for various industrial and transportation sectors.
Beyond production volumes, Revap demonstrated remarkable operational excellence with a total utilization factor of 97.55%. This figure represents the refinery's best operational performance since mid-2015, when the unit resumed a processing capacity of 40,000 cubic meters per day. The TFP calculation meticulously factors in the volume of oil processed against the refinery's reference capacity, while strictly adhering to design limits for assets and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards for the produced oil products.
Operational availability also contributed significantly to Revap's success, reaching a notable 97.29%. Considering that the theoretical maximum availability stands at 97.58%, the refinery experienced minimal loss in the first half of the year. This high availability indicates that an increasing number of the refinery's units are consistently available for production, without encountering restrictions due to reliability issues.
Alexandre Coelho Cavalcanti, Revap's general manager, attributed these impressive results to a confluence of factors. He emphasized the ongoing efforts invested in the refinery's reliability plan and the maintenance of excellent operational conditions, which have facilitated a high level of processing of pre-salt oils – a crucial component of Brazil's energy matrix.
