Seasonal Restocking Could Push China Tallow Fatty Acid Prices Higher in August

Ian Fleming 26-Aug-2026
China’s Tallow Fatty Acid market is expected to rise 3.0% in August 2026, reversing the decline recorded in July as seasonal restocking and improving downstream procurement support market sentiment. Demand from detergent, soap, personal-care and fatty-amide manufacturers is expected to strengthen gradually as buyers replenish inventories ahead of the autumn consumption period. Rubber and tyre compounders may maintain stable procurement, while improved automotive activity and export orders could provide additional support. Overseas demand from Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand may also improve as buyers return to the spot market following a period of comfortable inventories. On the supply side, Chinese renderers and integrated oleochemical producers are expected to maintain stable operating rates, ensuring sufficient Tallow Fatty Acid availability. Comfortable slaughter-derived tallow supply could continue supporting production, although stronger buying may gradually reduce inventories accumulated during July. Competition from palm-based stearic acid is likely to remain a limiting factor. Looking ahead to September, pre-Q4 procurement and seasonal restocking may sustain demand, while stable production and export availability could prevent sharper market tightening.

China’s Tallow Fatty Acid market is expected to increase 3.0% in August 2026, as seasonal restocking and improving downstream procurement are likely to absorb part of the comfortable supply that weighed on the market during the previous month. Buyers from detergent, soap and personal-care industries may gradually return to the market after maintaining cautious purchasing and comfortable inventories in July. Improving export enquiries could also provide additional support to Tallow Fatty Acid demand.

Demand for Tallow Fatty Acid is expected to recover gradually across major downstream sectors. Detergent and soap manufacturers may increase procurement ahead of the autumn consumption period, while personal-care and fatty-amide producers could return for routine inventory replenishment. Rubber and tyre compounders are also expected to maintain stable consumption, although purchasing will remain dependent on automotive production and export tyre demand. Overseas buyers in Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand may increase enquiries as existing inventories decline. However, continued competition from palm-based stearic acid could restrict the extent of the recovery in Tallow Fatty Acid demand.

On the supply side, Tallow Fatty Acid availability is expected to remain relatively comfortable as Chinese renderers and integrated oleochemical facilities maintain stable operating rates. Sufficient slaughter-derived tallow availability may continue supporting raw-material supply, while steady output from major production hubs could ensure adequate export availability. Nevertheless, stronger seasonal buying may gradually reduce inventories accumulated during July. Logistics costs could also influence Tallow Fatty Acid offers, particularly if higher bunker fuel and marine insurance expenses raise export costs.

Looking ahead to September 2026, Tallow Fatty Acid demand is expected to remain supported by pre-Q4 procurement and further inventory replenishment across detergent, soap, personal-care and fatty-amide applications. Stronger buying from Southeast Asian markets could improve export absorption, while stable domestic production may prevent the market from tightening sharply. Competition from palm-derived alternatives will remain an important constraint, making the outlook dependent on the balance between seasonal demand, supply availability, export activity and logistics conditions.
