Sidara completes acquisition of Wood plc, strengthening global engineering, energy, and decarbonization capabilities while expanding its integrated infrastructure and consulting services worldwide.

Dubai-based engineering and consulting group Sidara has officially completed its acquisition of Wood plc, the Aberdeen-headquartered global consulting and engineering company known for its expertise in energy and materials industries. The deal represents a major strategic milestone for Sidara as it accelerates efforts to expand its global energy services portfolio and strengthen its presence across complex infrastructure and industrial sectors.

The acquisition is expected to significantly enhance Sidara’s long-term growth strategy by integrating Wood’s engineering, consulting, and operational expertise with Sidara’s existing capabilities across multiple industries. Despite joining the group, Wood will maintain its independent brand identity and continue operating as a standalone business unit. This structure allows Wood to preserve its well-established reputation in the global engineering and energy consulting market while benefiting from Sidara’s broader resources, global network, and long-term investment philosophy.

By combining Wood’s technical knowledge with Sidara’s international scale, the newly expanded group aims to deliver more comprehensive solutions to clients in the global energy sector. Wood’s capabilities in advanced engineering, digital technologies, and decarbonization initiatives are expected to play a key role in strengthening Sidara’s position within the evolving global energy landscape. The combined organization intends to support both conventional energy security needs and the growing demand for cleaner energy systems and low-carbon infrastructure.

Sidara operates through a structured five-pillar model that brings together specialized companies serving different sectors of the built environment and energy industries. These include Dar, which focuses on multidisciplinary engineering and consulting services; Wood plc for energy and materials solutions; Perkins&Will specializing in architecture and design; TYLin providing infrastructure engineering expertise; and Currie & Brown delivering project management and consultancy services. Through this integrated structure, Sidara can provide end-to-end solutions across the full lifecycle of major projects.

The group’s companies collectively serve a diverse range of global clients, including major energy companies, technology firms, healthcare institutions, aviation authorities, and government agencies. These clients often rely on Sidara’s collaborative capabilities for large-scale and technically complex projects that require integrated planning, engineering design, project execution, and operational support.

With the addition of Wood, Sidara’s global workforce now exceeds 55,000 professionals. The combined organization generates annual revenues exceeding $8.5 billion and maintains a strong geographic presence across major markets. Approximately 40 percent of the group’s revenue is generated in North America, while Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region each contribute roughly 20 percent.

Talal Shair, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sidara, described the acquisition as the most ambitious strategic initiative in the company’s history. He emphasized that integrating Wood into the group significantly strengthens Sidara’s ability to address two of the most critical global industries: energy and materials.

Shair highlighted that the partnership comes at a pivotal moment when the world faces urgent challenges related to energy transition and the sustainable supply of essential raw materials. According to him, providing long-term strategic support and investment for Wood will enable the combined organization to deliver innovative engineering and technology-driven solutions that address both current energy security demands and future sustainability goals.

By bringing together complementary expertise, Sidara and Wood aim to accelerate the development of advanced energy systems and resilient infrastructure while supporting global efforts to transition toward cleaner and more sustainable industrial operations.
