Sinopec Secures US$40.9 Billion in Deals, Highlights AI and Green Energy at CIIE 2025

Sinopec has signed US$40.9 billion in purchasing contracts with 34 global partners at the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE 2025), emphasizing a future driven by AI, technological innovation, and green development.

China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) cemented its role as a major force in global trade and energy transition by announcing massive procurement deals totaling US$40.9 billion at the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE 2025). The substantial signing ceremony, held on November 4, saw Sinopec enter into purchasing contracts with 34 partners from 17 countries and regions, underscoring the company’s commitment to international cooperation.

The extensive product list covered 24 products across 10 major categories, including essential commodities like crude oil, various chemicals, as well as equipment, materials, and consumer goods. This latest figure pushes Sinopec’s cumulative purchasing orders signed at the CIIE since the inaugural session in 2018 to over US$325 billion, illustrating the expo's vital importance to the company's global sourcing strategy.

Speaking at the forum, which was moderated by Li Yonglin, director and senior vice president, Sinopec's vice chairman and president, Zhao Dong, delivered a key address on the company's future vision. He stressed Sinopec's unwavering commitment to high-quality development by leveraging technological strength and adhering to the principle of "digital intelligence empowerment" to unlock new value.

"Sinopec is firmly committed to its primary mission of promoting high-quality development. the group also adheres to the principle of 'digital intelligence empowerment' to activate new engines of value creation, striving to advance the energy and chemical industry toward greater sophistication, intelligence, and sustainability," remarked Zhao Dong.

Looking ahead, President Zhao Dong emphasized that Sinopec's development trajectory is intrinsically linked to the trust and support of its global partners. In preparation for China's upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan period, he outlined a joint action plan with international collaborators to strengthen scientific and technological innovation, break developmental bottlenecks, and establish new industry advantages.

His call to action centered on accelerating the integration of next-generation information technology with the energy and chemical industry to stimulate new drivers for industrial upgrading. Crucially, Zhao Dong highlighted Sinopec’s intent to significantly expand green and low-carbon cooperation. This dual approach involves advancing the clean and efficient use of traditional energy while simultaneously pursuing the large-scale development of new energy sources, all aimed at creating a sustainable development blueprint.
