Syzygy and World Fuel signed a capacity reservation agreement securing future SAF supply from planned NovaSAF facilities across Latin America.

Syzygy Plasmonics, an innovator in light-powered reactor technology and developer of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production projects, has announced the signing of a capacity reservation agreement with World Fuel Services (World Fuel) to support future SAF supply from Syzygy’s planned NovaSAF™ production facilities. The agreement represents a significant step toward expanding the availability of lower-carbon aviation fuels and highlights growing industry confidence in alternative fuel technologies that can help the aviation sector reduce its environmental footprint.

Under the terms of the agreement, World Fuel will reserve a portion of the future SAF production capacity from Syzygy’s planned commercial-scale facilities, which are expected to be developed across Central and South America. These projects are intended to follow the company’s flagship NovaSAF-1 facility in Uruguay, which is currently advancing toward the construction phase. The arrangement demonstrates increasing market interest in scalable and commercially viable SAF production pathways that can contribute to global aviation decarbonization goals.

Syzygy’s NovaSAF platform is designed to convert biogas into sustainable aviation fuel through an innovative production process that leverages the company’s proprietary light-driven reactor technology. By utilizing renewable feedstocks such as biogas, the platform aims to produce SAF at competitive costs while helping airlines and fuel suppliers meet tightening environmental regulations and sustainability targets. As governments and aviation stakeholders continue to implement policies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the demand for reliable SAF supply is expected to grow substantially over the coming years.

Trevor Best, Chief Executive Officer of Syzygy Plasmonics, stated that the agreement reflects continued momentum for SAF solutions based on biogas conversion technologies. He noted that, following the progress of the NovaSAF-1 project, the company is seeing strong interest in production platforms capable of scaling efficiently while delivering fuels that align with evolving regulatory frameworks and industry sustainability commitments. According to Best, the NovaSAF platform has been specifically developed to provide a cost-effective pathway for SAF production without compromising environmental performance.

World Fuel also emphasized the importance of securing future supply opportunities that can support the aviation industry's transition toward lower-carbon fuels. Michael Ranger, Senior Vice President, Supply EMEAA at World Fuel, explained that the company continues to assess and develop fuel supply arrangements that can expand access to sustainable aviation solutions. He added that partnerships and capacity reservation agreements such as this one form part of World Fuel’s broader strategy to strengthen supply chain readiness and respond to growing customer demand for sustainable fuel alternatives.

The agreement does not constitute immediate fuel deliveries but instead establishes a framework under which Syzygy will allocate a portion of future production capacity to World Fuel once the planned facilities are successfully developed, financed, and commissioned. As SAF demand accelerates globally, such agreements are becoming increasingly important in providing confidence to developers, investors, and fuel distributors regarding future market opportunities.

The collaboration between Syzygy Plasmonics and World Fuel highlights the growing role of strategic partnerships in scaling SAF production infrastructure. With aviation stakeholders facing mounting pressure to reduce emissions, agreements that secure future fuel volumes can help accelerate project development, support investment decisions, and contribute to the broader adoption of sustainable aviation fuels across international markets.
