Tallgrass Pony Express Pipeline, a Tallgrass Energy company, and Bridger Pipeline, have jointly announced a binding open season to gauge shipper interest in expanded crude oil transportation capacity from Bridger's Guernsey Hub in Wyoming to destinations along the Pony Express Pipeline. The initiative could potentially increase the Pony Express's throughput by approximately 22,000 barrels per day (bpd), contingent upon the level of commitment received during the 30-day open season, which commenced on May 9, 2025.
The Pony Express Pipeline is a critical crude oil transportation artery, currently spanning approximately 2,700 miles and providing connectivity between production basins in Wyoming, Colorado, and Kansas with key refining centers in the Midwest.
This open season offers prospective shippers an opportunity to secure incentive tariff rates for firm transportation service on the Pony Express system originating from the Guernsey Hub. The Guernsey Hub, a significant crude oil gathering and transportation nexus in the region, provides access to growing production areas.
Bridger Pipeline, with its extensive gathering and transportation network in the Rockies region, plays a vital role in aggregating crude oil volumes. This joint open season leverages Bridger's strong presence at the Guernsey Hub and Pony Express's extensive downstream connectivity to offer a compelling transportation solution. The collaboration seeks to optimize existing infrastructure and unlock additional value for shippers by providing efficient and cost-effective access to key market destinations.
The proposed expansion would involve increasing the capacity on specific segments of the Pony Express Pipeline downstream of its connection with Bridger's Guernsey Hub. The exact scope and capital investment associated with the expansion will be determined based on the volume commitments received during the open season. This approach ensures that the expansion is directly aligned with market demand and provides the most efficient solution for interested shippers.
Tallgrass and Bridger believe that this joint open season will be met with significant interest from producers and marketers seeking reliable and cost-competitive transportation options out of the Guernsey Hub. The incentive tariff rates offered during this open season are designed to encourage long-term commitments and underpin the economic viability of the potential expansion.
Prospective shippers who are interested in learning more about this opportunity and the associated incentive tariff rates are invited to participate in the open season process. Detailed information regarding the open season, including transportation routes, capacity availability, and tariff structures, will be made available to interested parties upon the execution of a confidentiality agreement.
