Tariff Shock Lingers as U.S. Naphtha Edges Up on Supply Tightness

Newly announced broad U.S. import taxes made the global naphtha market face new problems in the first week of April xxxx.  Politicians, including President Trump, made the change, which worried people in the petrochemical industry because higher prices for things like electronics, packaging, and appliances are thought to lower customer demand and petrochemical use. 

Oil, gas, and refined products are not affected by the tariffs, but market players are worried that demand will drop even further, especially in economies that depend on exports like South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.  Higher pressure may be put on these areas to lower running rates or shut down assets that aren&#xx;t making money.
